MEPN Programs that don't have any pre-reqs (like Yale or UV)

Published

Hi,

Does anyone know of any MEPN programs besides Yale and UV that don't have any pre-reqs? I just finished a pre-med program and I don't want to take any more pre-reqs! I will if I have to, but I'm trying to do some research first.

Thanks in advance :)

I could be wrong, but I would imagine that your pre-reqs for med school would be very similar to the pre-reqs for most direct entry MSN programs.

The pre-reqs for the program I applied to were biology, chemistry, A&P I and II, stats, psychology, etc. The people I know in med/dental/etc school needed had these same classes done before graduation. Perhaps you could look at some of the programs that seem most appealing and see how their pre-reqs line up with what you have already taken.

As far as your actual question, I only researched locally, and didn't come across any schools without required classes.

Good luck!

Yeah, I've taken bio, chem, etc. Lots of the programs I've researched ALSO require stats, psychology, a&p, intro sociology...etc. I could go on and on... Thanks for your help though.

Nursing programs are notorious for not having consistent requisite classes between different schools. This is different than med schools, which tend to have more or less the same requirements. It's a frustrating reality. So you have to pick just a few schools to focus on because there's no sure fire way to cover all the different pre-reqs for different programs.

Good luck!

BUMP.

I'm currently getting my application together for Yale and so I'm still wondering if there are any other hidden gems out there. Thx!

DePaul requires a year of Chem, a Year of Bio, a minimum GPA of 3.0, and a minimum 500 verbal and 500 quantitative on the GRE, although more is already better. Rush has the generic ABSN prereqs, mostly because their DE MSN program is more or less their old ABSN program with the end degree changed. UIC's Master's Entry program makes you apply for and take an advanced practice MSN after you get your RN; it has the generic ABSN prereqs as well as a research methods course.

McGill University in Montreal has a direct entry program with more pre-med type pre-reqs (year of bio, year of gen chem, semester of orgo, plus your choice of humanities). The details are here.

University of Hawaii of Manoa has a MEPN program.
