mental health days

should nurses be given by their employers mental health days to recooperate when stressed and emotionally and physically exhausted, in addition to their sick days? Possibly a couple a year?

good luck selling the concept of additional paid time off for mental health.......

I work in mental health and I just use my personal days for MH days off. Of course they want to know why I am calling in...I just tell them it's PERSONAL...hence personal days.

I think it's a wonderful idea :)

its one of the reasons i work 4 tens. i have that extra day off during the week for whatever i need/want. i also regularly schedule a long weekend every other month or so (using pto). by the time that long weekend rolls around, i'm ready to take it. i've gone to dc for long weekends to visit with friends, or to fly to nyc to visit family. no matter what *we* call it, it will always fall under the term pto for admin.

We don't get specified mental health days, but I have used my sick days to take them. It would be nice if they were an added bene, though.
