Men in Nursing Calendar

Ok, so this post starts as a joke on the unit I work.

we finished up remodeling our home unit, and the staff was joking around, and I hopped on the counter and someone snapped a photo.... long story short, now people want to do a calendar. Any thoughts? We are in Southwest Ohio. I know it has been done in the past in other states to advertise to men to join Nursing, This one could be used for that, or just for fun. Kind of like the "Firefighter/EMT" calendars that are out there, just for Nursing.

I have a free Men in Nursing 2011 from Lippincott. It features different men in all areas of nursing. No beafcake, just regular guys like you and me at work. They are free (not sure how I got mine in the mail), the contact info on the back is Cindy Dozois -> [email protected]. I have mine at hanging on the wall at work versus something with flowers or lighthouses.

I have the same calendar, actually had the 2010 one first and I liked it so much that I requested one for 2011. I got the 2010 one when I was subscribed to Nursing2009 (which I have since not renewed as I wanted to read something better focused on the nursing student/new grad) and it was sent along with the Men in Nursing supplement they include every so often. I simply emailed the same lady listed above (her email is also on the back of the calendar) and she was nice enough to send the 2011 one to me. It's not beefcake at all, it shows real men in nursing roles across the country at several major hospital networks, different ages and levels of experience. Has inspirational personal quotes and it also serves as a recruitment tool for these same places (it refers you to their websites). I'll be getting a 2012 for sure! It has been a great motivator for my wall!
