Hi,

I am new to the chat. I have been reading everyones comments about CRNA school ect. This is my first post. I live outside of boston/Worcester...I sent my application just a few days before it was due( to Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island). I received notification on Monday that I was selected for an interview and should call to set up a date and time. The date on the letter was Oct 15th, I guess some were mailed out on Friday. I am beside myself excited. I can also say that I can not believe the, for lack of a better word, goofballs that seem to want to deter people from this profession. Some of the comments are so outragious about the interview questions that I am really doubting any of these people actually got into school. Anyone agree?? Let me tell you I have a family and will have to quit my job and take out loans to pay my mortgage and buy food! Failure is not an option. I feel like most of you who are applying know the challenge and sacrifices this program will mean. For me, if its meant to be it will be. I don't plan on "studying" for any interview. If I don't know at least most of the questions they ask me then I don't belong there. The only thing I plan on doing is trying to think about some interesting patients to talk about if it is true that they will ask...a girl I work with just started up at Northeastern in September and she said one woman instructor was harsh but the rest of the interviewers were nice....and they did ask her about a patient she had given care to...she was so nervous during the interview that she seriously doesn't remember much of what she talked about....she walked out thinking she had made a complete fool of herself and ended up getting chosen.

Hi again!

I regret the goofballs comment...very negative on my part. There are lots of encouraging people here. Anyhow as far as how many get admitted...not quite sure but if you do a google search there is a Pawtucket newspaper artical that has last years graduating class and there are a total of 9 graduates in the picture. But from what I understand the class starts at double the size so probably 18-20 people....what I'm really wondering is how many applicants there were by the sept. 30th deadline. Goodluck to everyone!

I am glad you were selected, some of my info were missing. They asked me to fax my transcripts, so I am just waiting and hopefully they will send a letter. I am glad they offered you an interview, do you mind share your stats. Thank you

Hi!

Well I think its very promising that you were missing some info and they asked you to fax it. That shows that they were interested enough in you to want the rest of the information! I am only four years out of school and have been in the ICU since graduation (still a rookie and will always be!) I think that that is the best frame of mind to be in in this profession. And contrary to popular belief you do not have to work in a Level 1 trauma center to get an interview. I am in the Boston area and there are a lot of name brand hospitals around here....the best in the country and I work at a small community hospital. Let me tell you, we have some amazing per diem nurses from the big hospitals who come and work with us at night and they get a little anxious because there are not doctors around every corner, as a matter of fact there is one in the hospital and often times these people haven't intubated in a long time... no fears, we walk them through it! We don't have a PACU at night so we are all cross-trained to recover the patients. I love where I work and I always felt I should move to a bigger hospital that gets the real train wrecks but I realized after working with some of these other nurses that some of the skills I have gained along the way might not be as good as they are if I were working under different circumstances with different resources. I was amazed to hear that a lot of hospitals have an IV team, I'm sure the ICU nurses still start there own lines but at my hospital the ICU nurses are the IV team....I can start a line in a paper bag...not to brag but its true! But 3 years ago I couldn't start a line unless I could see the vein from the doorway. Anyhow you have some time to hear from them because they are doing interviews right up until the end of November which makes me nervous because it sounds like you won't find out if your in until sometime in December and that doesn't leave me much time to get my ducks in a row...sell my soul and my kids if I have to(haha I'm joking..I think!)

I just got my letter today from MHORI. it was sent on OCt 18 and i received it on 10/22. I live in Miami, FL. Does anybody know how the interviews are?
