Memorial Hermann Summer 2016 Residency

Published

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to start a thread for anyone out there applying to Memorial Hermann's Nurse Residency for Summer 2016!!

Me too!! I check my email everyday hoping I received the letter!

Specializes in Burn ICU.

Ms. Simone, I'll be working at TMC. I didn't think about that. Good point!

ok good!! I'll be working at Childrens-TMC so hopefully they'll be sending my offer letter soon!!

I accepted a position with Southwest. Has anyone taken their NCLEX? I took mine soon after match day at TMC. I passed with 75 questions. Thank God!

I should be taking mine some time in mid April!! I'm so nervous...I really want to pass on the first time!

Make sure you look at the new test plan bc they are updating the NCLEX in April. I looked at it and I didn't think it was different at all from the 2013 test plan. Use uworld and Hurst, pray, and make sure you cover all of your weak areas. Uworld gets you familiar with question types that are similar to NCLEX. NCLEX is so random and you don't want them to ask you the things that you are weak at.

Yea my school offered Kaplan review for a week after I finished school. And I just finished doing some practice questions and remediation using Uworld. So with those two I'm praying I'll pass the first time!

If you use Uworld effectively, there is a very high chance that you will pass. All the other NCLEX prep questions out there don't compare to Uworld. Uworld really comes close to the NCLEX. When you create a test on Uworld, its best to click select all for both the top and bottom topic areas that way you get every topic area. If you want to focus on a certain topic you can do that, but the best way is to use the first way I recommended.

How did y'all study for the exit-HESI?

At my school, we were required to take a course to prepare us for the HESI. So we learned test taking strategies. We also had to buy this program on evolve called adaptive quizzing. It's pricey but it really helps you practice HESI/NCLEX style questions.

How did y'all study for the exit-HESI?

I used the green hesi book and Saunders for content. Both of those books you can register online to do practice questions. I did 50 questions per day except on Sundays for 6 weeks before HESI. I passed successfully. Good luck!
