The same thing happened to me . . .I think I'm gonna buy that book for my father-in-law for Father's Day.

I do remember reading about this before but not so many details.

I found the link on the Army Knowledge Online Web site. The story had a special meaning for me in several ways. I'm a USMC Veteran [1980-1988] & enjoyed reading about the Medic. However, I believe the service member was actually a Navy Corpsman, rather than a Medic. Nonetheless, it was an excellent story.

BTW, I hope some of you get the opportunity to view the HBO documentary; Baghdad ER. I believe it will be on the air starting today. I was able to see a pre-screening [in its entirety] last week at Madigan Army Medical Center. The documentary follows the day to day activities of the 86th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad last year. Be advised, this show is authentic and real. An excellent depiction of what AMEDD Soldiers do on deployment assigned to a CSH in theater.

I'll admit same... had several wet drops roll down my cheeks while reading the story.

Be advised, if you get a chance to view the HBO Documentary Baghdad ER, you will need a box of kleenex within your reach. I heard many a sniffles [by Soldiers, self included] in the viewing audience while watching the show. IMHO, the show was well done, and in a non-political fashion.

I don't have HBO, much less any other movie channel because there is so much crap, pardon my French. ;) (I've mentioned MTV being blocked too).

I have ordered videos of shows though - one that HBO did on meth for example. Maybe I'll just have to order one.

Thanks for the info.

I don't have HBO, either. I was able to see the 60 minute documentary at the Madigan Army Medical Center auditorium last Thursday. It was interesting to hear comments from other Soldiers in the audience after the show that had been deployed in similar missions to Iraq. Plus, it was good to get a glimpse of what I'll face whenever I'm assigned to a CSH on deployment in Iraq.
