NJ22 I didn't know that middle schools had marching bands, I thought that was only high school

Stars that was nice of the landlady to have done that

Went out early for bird watching, was pretty good weather, saw a fair number of birds.  Ran a few errands and tried watching some opera on TV  The classical music station has an opera on Saturdays so I've been seeing if my taste has changed, but no dice, still  don't  like it.  Went for a bike ride in the early evening.  Skipped church as I was at church twice last weekend

Today going to take my bike to the Prairie Path for the first time this year, will get out early before it gets warm.  Have to do some cooking today.  Might watch Amadeus again, have that on DVD but haven't watched it in a while

Will get up into the low 80s today.  Pollen seems to be high the last week or two here.   Hasn't rained in at least a week, which is unusual  for Spring

Good morning!

Opera is to over the top for me but some of the singers do have amazing voices.

Happy birthday to J22's son.  I remember my dad saying "you know you're old when your first born turns 40".  Now first and 2nd born are in our 60's.

Stars, our lives do take some twists and turns and sometimes I say "I wonder if....."

Several call offs yesterday (Sunday holiday weekend...hmmm) so they pulled an RN from my unit and made me take 6:1 and be in charge.  So I really did nothing related to charge and the group was very heavy.  Stayed until 9pm charting and when I clocked out I answered "no" to the question "Did you take 30 minute uninterrupted break this shift".    Had veggie burgers and called it a day while questioning my life choices saying "I wonder if......."

Tweety, Your employer is NUTS! They seem to want you to be Super-Nurse all the time! I know when I worked at hospitals (back in the good old days) the Charge Nurse never had any assignments for patients unless they were "the easy ones". As the Med Nurse, when I was through passing them, I doubled up with the Charge to take care of the "easy" patients. We had a ward-clerk, too. Ah, I remember when!

Joe, I liked Amadeus a whole lot. Another good opera movie is the bio where Enrico Caruso was played by Mario Lanza. It is a bit sappy, but the reason I enjoyed it was that Mario Lanza, a big barrel-chested singer, REALLY enjoyed singing, and you could tell. I had a patient who replayed that video many times in the years I took care of him, so I learned to appreciate Lanza's voice and enthusiasm.

Last night when I was getting ready to put Nannie to bed, I walked into her bedroom to get her pj bottoms while she sat on the toilet, and almost fell...only to discover there was a very large puddle of water on the floor, I had to throw down 4 large towels to sop it all up. It seemed to be coming from the hot water heater, but it wasn't hot water. Anyway, after I got it dried up and walked her to her bed, I put another large towel in front of the water heater. I went upstairs to tell hubby, who had already gone to bed, and he said to turn off the water heater. There was NO place to turn the water off. He went down to look at it, and lo and behold, there really was nowhere to turn the water off. This morning the towel I had put down last night was thoroughly soaked. ? It is 2:15 PM and I wonder what he is going to do about the problem? He needs to call a plumber, and I'm sure we will need a new hot water heater. But it will come out of Nannie's $$$ so I'm not worried about that. Just that it needs to be done soon. I want to take a shower and wash my hair!

Hubby was in back in bed again when I got up. I noticed some bloody paper towels in the kitchen trash. Now I am waiting to see what he has that is bleeding, where it is, and HOW it happened. Jeesh!  (I do suspect WHY it happened, and I bet y'all do, too!)

I also wonder if hubby has called the eye docs office again and insisted on an appt sooner than damn November! If he hasn't called them, *I* will. There is no sense at all in making a diabetic to wait 6 months to have that left eye checked out. If they can't or won't move the appt up, I will have him go to a different eye docs office.

Braves won over the Phillies last night 11-4. ?  They play another game tonight.

Welp, I have washed the dirty towels in cold water and it is time to put them in the dryer. Will also see if the 'new' dry towel is still soakng up water...

Later, y'all!

Hello all!

Ugh, No Stars, NOOOOOO water leaks!!  Hope you can get a plumber to come out soon and fix that.  Agree, Mr. Stars, as a diabetic, needs his eyes checked sooner than November!  Good the gypsies are behaving themselves the last couple days.  I am reading a period murder mystery series, and in the last book (Book 5), spotted THREE mis-uses of words: yolk instead of yoke, breaks instead of brake, etc.  It is irritating to me when the wrong words are used!  Who is editing these books?????  OK, rant over.  ?

We drove to the high desert with fiddler yesterday, in the afternoon, for band practice.  We were initially going to just go over a set list for our August program, but ended up practicing several new songs, and chatting, and just generally having a good time!  Then we all went out for a sushi dinner!  Today is relaxing day, though I need to change linens.  Soon I will need to check on my huge four-plant vegetable garden!  The green onions are sprouting (from when I cut the tips off the store-bought ones, and planted them), the other plants are doing well so far, growing well and the cherry tomato plant has several blossoms.

I have an appointment for an echocardiogram tomorrow, kinda checking on the repaired mitral valve (it's been 8 years now!).  I have no new DOE, edema, or other symptoms of failure, and am still (as far as I can tell) in sinus rhythm (no a-fib), but I recently heard a new murmur.  Since it's been 3 yr since my last echo, I asked if I should get one (with this new finding), and PMD agreed, and ordered it.  It's an easy test, and I should be in and out of there in 30 min or so.

Not much else going on here.  Grateful to those in our armed forces who gave the ultimate sacrifice...  We Remember!

Have a good day and evening!

Yup, hubby fell on the walkway from the carport to the front door. R elbow has a skin tear, back of his right hand has a long jagged skin tear. Some bruising on his face and forehead, but not nearly as bad as I was last time. He didn't break his glasses, but they are kinda warped. He adjusted them as best he could. I made him let me walk him back to the house and up the front steps, then into the kitchen so I could bandage the boo-boos. Then I went up and stripped his bed and made it up with clean sheets. The bloodied ones are in the washer, on cold, of course.

At least I did get enough hot water to do the sink full of dishes from yesterday and last night.

Ah me, oh my.

Kind of a rainy Memorial Day weekend. Not that we can really get out much anyway. Hubs did play 9 holes of golf (he says it's the first time in nearly 25 years and I guess he's right) on Saturday. Sunday he drove to the lake expecting to sail with a friend and help him get his trailer tire aired up. But there was enough rain that they gave up on sailing.

The boys and I went to see Hamilton Friday night. There was a possibility I would need to go in to work if there were admissions to med/surg. I'm glad that didn't happen.

Today I started on my closet and will work my way through the bedroom. I moved some heavy tubs and got really light-headed. Heart rate on my pulse ox was 150 though it came down fairly quickly. BP 98/68. Decided to cut back on caffeine and drink more water. I'd had maybe 1.5 cups of coffee in the morning and a diet coke with lunch.

I took tomorrow off so I can get some home business done and continue what I started. Flying to Indianapolis Saturday and will be able to attend grandson's high school graduation in northern Indiana on Sunday. Work meetings on Monday and Tuesday in Indianapolis. That makes me feel old: a grandson graduating from high school. Of course, his mother is my stepdaughter but still.
