Hi there
I am just wondering which members of the multidisplianry team would be involved in caring for a patient with dilated cardiomyopathy and what their contributions may be/why needed.
I need nursing diagnoses for dilated cardiomyopathy .
Is decreased cardiac output one?
Thankyou in advance for all help, greatly appreciated

We usually have you post your own guesses and then help you fill in the gaps from there. There are a few obvious members of the interdisciplinary team for a cardiac patient. Might the patient need oxygen? Who would provide that? Who would issue medications other than oxygen?
Yes, decreased cardiac output is associated with DCM. If you think about the assessment of this type of patient, at least one or two more nursing diagnoses should jump out at you. It can be easier if you have an actual patient rather than a general hypothetical scenario, but it should be doable either way. Good luck to you.

do you know what dilated cardiomyopathy is and how it occurs? do you know what its presenting signs are? do you know what is often included in the medical plan of care? if you know this, you can answer your own questions. actually, this can be a good way to start looking at any unfamiliar diagnosis when you have to figure out your nursing plan of care. nursing diagnoses are not automatic subsets of medical diagnoses. what signs do you see in a patient with dcm that need nursing assessment and nursing intervention?
tell you what, answer those questions here, let us know what you conclude, and we can help you more. deal?
