    Quote from tracimom

What is med-surg? I am a upcoming nursing student. I have a bachelors and thinking strongly toward LPN rather than RN because of the waiting list.

What is the pay of LPN's in New ORleans?

Do not waste your time going for LPN! I did it and am now struggling to get my RN 2 kids and a husband later, no money, and no sympathy from anyone especially the instructors who think LPN's should jump right back into school and know everything there is to know about nursing. If I knew then what I knew now, I would have skipped LPN school and went straight for my RN. Anyway that's just my opinion.

If you go to Bayou Uniforms on Causeway, they know exactly what you need and can order what they don't have. They even have uniforms in stock with the patches on them. They keep folders on what schools require. Hope this helps.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I am an Lpn in school for my RN and have been blown away by the attitudes of nurses on the floor during our clinical rotations. Many times I go home and wonder what the hell they got into the profession for. I must admit though, there are some classmates of mine whom I already recognize will be one of those ****** nurses. I think before entering nursing school there should be some sort of personality/compassion testing. We need to weed out all these negative nurses. Hey to all nurses: REMEMBER! YOU WERE THERE ONCE TOO!!!!!

A friend of mine told me this story of a pt she had who was about 550-600 pounds. She was in the pt's room checking on her IV when the pt asked her if she (my friend),could do something for her. My friend says, "Sure honey, what can I help you with?" The pt asked her if she could please lift up one of her but cheeks for her so she could fart. She said it with a serious face too! My friend excused herself to get some gloves or something. She went to the nurses station. She told the other nurses at the station what the pt had just asked her. At the time she was furious. The other nurses were cracking up, much like I'm doing now. My friend said, " As far as I'm concerned she can just blow up!" She didn't go back into the room for the rest of the night. I asked her if the lady blew up. She said, " Unfortunately not!"
