  4. Nursing myths. Stories that you know cannot be true

I don't know if it hit the news, I am studying in Glasgow and it happened at the hospital I was on placement at. It was a nurse that told me about it. I guess it could be a myth but as far as I was aware it hadn't happened very long before.
  5. Nursing myths. Stories that you know cannot be true

Ok I dont know how to quote in little bubbles so I will just say my bit here! Firstly no, deemed unsuitable is just the term I decided to use to say that the patient had not been named DNR but should have been. DNR means the same thing here. The sec...
  6. Nursing myths. Stories that you know cannot be true

I think the family got compensation or the broken ribs guy did, the NHS paid it though and I believe the nurse actually didn't get much more than a surprise. But she was investigated, and I think she had to do retraining and stuff.
  7. Nursing myths. Stories that you know cannot be true

Perhaps abuse is harsh however there could be criminal charges if a patient was deemed unsuitable and cpr left them brain damaged, the family would have the right to demand an investigation. The statistics for in hospital resus attempts are that 15% ...
  8. Nursing myths. Stories that you know cannot be true

That is odd, I harldy think the family is best placed to make a rational fact based, medical decision reguarding their loved ones status. I find it really interesting because here an attept to resus a patient who was not suitable would be termed at t...
  9. Nursing myths. Stories that you know cannot be true

I think things in the UK must be totally different, I have never heard and arrest called a code before. But my point is: even if that patient does not have a very good chance what gives you the right to not do everything you can? Aside form the fact ...
  10. I hate to say this, but I think it's true.....

I am sorry but I think this is a pretty harsh generalisation. As a younger generation student nurse I could say that during my clinical placements I have found older nurses to be: obcessed with heirarchy, using out of date practice, terrible manual h...

  12. I hate to say this, but I think it's true.....

I really dont get all this good money stuff. Its really not the case over here. Therefor in the UK this whole debate is void. Actually I think it is void over there too. All points have been made and now it is just people going round and round in cir...
  13. I hate to say this, but I think it's true.....

ok in the uk our clinical placements are assessed and depending on the school may be graded but there is a report at the end you carry all the way thruogh for otehr mentors to read so they can see if you did good or bad.
