It's the smells, and just being around elderly people. Just thinking about going there gives me a headache, and once I'm there, I try so hard not to be sick, and sometimes end up in the bathroom vomiting.

I'm in my 4th week of clinicals, and I'm having a MAJOR problem. The first 10 weeks of clinicals are in nursing homes. I am getting physically sick whenever I go in to help these poor people. How do i get over that? Controlling my nausea is becoming the most physically exhausting thing I've had to do. I'm not sure I'm cut out to do this kind of work.

    Any suggestions?

My classes are from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM M-F, and I'm in my 7th week. We started clinicals last week, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Since the start of the quarter, I've gained 8 pounds! Hopefully the clinicals will help me get some of this weight back off, but until then, I'm going to take your advice and give up the caffeine for water.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try anything to try to keep up. I've been out of school for 5 years, and I'm trying to get back into the swing of things with studying and keeping up with all the quizzes and labs.

I just ordered my new planner, and it should be here withing 3 days.

    Thanks again,

I am new to this board, and new to LPN school. I've only been in school for 3 weeks, and am very overwhelmed. I'm going to a vocational school that offers adult education classes, and it will only take 10 months to complete the course, going full time, M-F 8-3:30.

There is so much information being crammed into our brains insuch a short amount of time.

We start clinicals in 2 weeks, and I'm really nervous. We will be in nursing homes 2 days a week, for 10 weeks, and I'm nervous about being around older people (I'm 23) because I don't really have many older people in my life, and I'm afraid of how frail they might be.

Does anyone have any advice for me?

    Thanks in advance!
