Fifteen of the 101 research questions that were assigned priorities in the Burn Nursing Delphi study by Marvin et al. (Marvin JA, Carrougher GJ, Bayley EW, Weber B, Knighton J, Rutan RL. Burn nursing Delphi study: setting research priorities. J BURN CARE REHABIL 1991;12:190-7) addressed education from the perspectives of patients, their families, and burn nurses; the study also addressed the issue of burn prevention education.
1. Follow the nursing exam study guide
One of the best ways to focus your nursing studies is to base your learning around the NCLEX test. Reviewing a study guide not only reveals which subject areas the nursing exam focuses on, but also how the test presents questions. Clearly, not everything you need to know as a nurse is contained in the licensing exam, but if you study towards the nursing exam all along, you’ll feel more confident on testing day.
2. Study a little every day
You cannot cram
Nurses play a vital role in improving the safety and quality of patient care—not only in the hospital or ambulatory treatment facility, but also of community-based care and the care performed by family members. Nurses need know what proven techniques and interventions they can use to enhance patient outcomes.
