  1. CEUs

I tried finding another post about this, but I couldn't. Are the CEU courses offered by the major websites (nurse.com, for example) applicable for RNs and LVNs? I'm in Texas and need to complete my hours, but came across a few sites that said 'approv...
  2. HELP New grad job dilemma

I would go with the first offer!
  3. Policy and Procedures

Thank you all your for input! Just to clarify, I do know that nurses all do things differently, I was referring more to policy regarding protocol, for example, after a fall, all the paperwork and proper documentation, or in the situation that someone...
  4. Policy and Procedures

I recently left a job, for various reasons, but mainly because each preceptor I was with had a 'different way' of doing things, in all aspects. It was pretty confusing, and when I mentioned that I was having difficulty with policies and protocols, t...
  5. Nonverbal patients

Thank you! That was very helpful. Since there are more than a few patients I work with that I have this issue with, I will definitely look into these suggestions.
  6. Nonverbal patients

Hi all, I'm a new nurse training at a LTC facility and have a question about certain patients who are confused, obtunded or not alert and also have contractures. I always introduce myself and explain everything I do, but I'm finding it difficult givi...
  7. Language barrier dilemna

Thank you all so much. I just feel like the odd man out I guess, because nearly everyone here does speak spanish. My instructors emphasize therapeutic communication and establishing rapport...our assessments are also expected to be thorough, includin...
  8. Language barrier dilemna

I just finished my first semester of nursing school (Yay!) and there seems to only be one problem. I live close to the Texas-Mexico border, and even though I am not from here, my boyfriend is, so we settled down here and I got accepted into the nursi...
  9. Based on my experience, I can tell you that every program is different so listen very carefully to the policies of your program, and listen to your instructors! They will have a method of teaching and grading that you will have to conform to immediat...
  10. Am I going to hate nursing

I understand how people can misinterpret this, but I also understand you are just being honest, you are stressed by the program and on top of that your peers and the instructors that are supposed to give you guidance seem like they're attacking you. ...
  11. I must ace TEAS test first time

You should definitely shoot for a 100%, but it is difficult. An 'A' is certainly possible if you utilize the right tools, such as the ATI manual, mometrix, and ATI practice tests along with going more in depth in each subject (A&P, Biology, etc.)...
  12. 72 on the teas; but am undaunted.

Definitely just take your time, and thoroughly go through each question. I couldn't find a ton of practice questions online for passages, but the 2 practice tests helped a ton, along with the manual! Pricey but worth it in the long run.
  13. Teas exam please help fellows

I think the key is taking the time to review all of the material and then condensing it while you learn until you can go over pretty much everything in your head. That way you know if you have it memorized. This is mainly for the science section. Th...
  14. I have taken the TEAS 4 times

It sounds like you really need to review the material in full; mainly the science section because it is short but is so broad in its questions spanning multiple science courses. Go over your Anatomy and Physiology by breaking it down in sections, and...
  15. Aced my TEAS

Definitely focus on the manual. I think otherwise you'll be trying to review tons of topics that aren't even on the test. Anatomy should be priority since its a huge section, and the basics of Biology and Chemistry. I think the Khan academy videos ar...
