The MS NM gave me a call yesterday abt when i should start working. I was hoping the background check will take longer so as to stall and wait for the OR interview result. I really really want the OR job... Like really, i couldnt sleep last night thinking abt it. I called the OR NM yesterday and asked abt the status and she told me that it will take couple of more weeks bfore she can decide. 2 slots and 7 applicants. I was the first to be interviewed. I told her i already accepted another job amd thanked her for the time and opportunity .

And i don't know my status with the OR so I accepted the MS job since they offered it at the end of the interview and with the economy, i dont want to lose a sure job.

Im thinking of sending the OR nurse manager an email... do you think the OR NM will still consider me in the future when i apply?Do you hink they will allow nurses to hve 2 fulltime jobs...? I really really passionately want to work in the OR and dont wanna let go of this dream and chance....

Thank you...

I don't see why you wouldn't be eligible to apply down the line for another OR position, I'm sure the NM understands your position. However, I would NOT recommend two full-time nursing jobs, especially one that has a learning curve as steep as the OR. It looks like you are a new RN. If so, focus on becoming the best you can be at one thing, and then move on if you still feel the need to be in the OR. Even if logistically you could fit in two full-time jobs, if you spread yourself too thinly you may end up losing both jobs (hopefully not because you hurt somebody).

Thank you so much! I'll stick with this job and work really hard... =D
