I am just about to start my last semester of nursing school and one of the things I am nervous about is the medications and what specific labs to look for. If you can please share any methods that have helped you I would appreciate it. Thank you!!!!

Usually the computers on the floor have a full drug database that you can look up information on..usually WAY more than you'd ever wanna know about any specific medication. We also had to pre-lab and fill all that drug information out the night before so that we knew that stuff before we took that patient. You could also get one of those little pocket-sized drug books...if all else fails, ask the nurse haha

think about pathophys...A lot of the antihypertensives affect potassium and sodium levels
diuretics can bump up bg levels
antipsychotics can affect bg levels
where are the drugs metabolized? Liver-look at LFTs, Kidneys-electrolytes...
