Medical leave and travel

Published

Hi,

I am having to go on medical leave for a non-work related injury for about 6 weeks. I was planning to go to NTI this year but I will still technically be on medical leave during that time. I already have made reservations/ bought tickets a month ago. Am I allowed to attend the conference while I am on medical leave or will I be in breech of my contract and/ or susceptible for termination?

Is this something I can ask my director about or should I just cancel my trip and leave it alone?

any input would be appreciated, thanks.

I wouldn't ask. Medical leave just means that you are unable to preform the functions of your job, not that you're bed bound and under house arrest.

Sure. Just be sure you have your doctor's note for your leave.
