Nurses Men

Published

i had typed an extremely long message but then realized it was too long and filled with useless information that no one is going to want to sort through to answer my question, so i have this revised one haha.

so to sum everything up i have wanted to be in the medical field ever since i was probably 6 years old. i've always excelled in all my science classes and am completely fascinated by the human body and the process of discovering and administering treatments.

my father did not want me to be a nurse because he said that nurses are only for women and that if i was going to do something in the medical field i would have to be a doctor. of course i listened to but father for some reason and went to mtsu as a premed student everything was fine and dandy until i had a major life changing event take place that prohibited me from finishing school. well i have been in sales for 2 almost 3 years now and have a burning desire to get into the medical field, not for money, my income is fine, but because one of the few things that bring tears to my eyes is that healthcare is not something everyone is privileged with. i want to be able to work in poorer cities and even work abroad, but being that i am i guess a "sales person" and business minded i do want to succeed and one day would like to maybe consider something on the administrative side.

dr. paul farmer is the only real role model i have ever had, i wish i could do one fourth of what him and others like him have accomplished.

now that i have all that out of the way, i work full time i am currently finishing up some classes and i want to look into an associates in nursing degree. what is everyone's opinion on this, is there any tips that you yall can give me? what are some things that might help prepare me for this? what is the best way to continue my education, i want to be a np one day.

i am just getting started in my associates and am so glad that it has finally begun. go for it!

i would find a good cc with a close to 100% pass rate on the nclex and pursue it. you will probably have to get prereqs out of the way, maybe not so many since you have some medical education. talk to the cc and they will tell you everything you need to know. the sooner you get this started the better so get on it!!!!
