Which class is harder: Med-surg OR mental health?

I think that depends on the individual (student). I don't think anyone can say that one class is objectively "harder" than the other. I've taught psych in ADN and BSN programs, and have students who breezed through med-surg with As really struggle and sweat in psych. Other people take to it like ducks to water but struggle with med-surg.

Mental health was a pretty easy class as long as you pay attention and memorize. It is basically all about therapeutic communication techniques and learning the disease processes. Med-Surg was a tough class. There are just so many diseases, lab values and procedures to learn and remember. I find that med-surg skills really stick with you no matter what kind of nursing you go in to. Especially when your friends and family members ask for advice, because it's usually related to med-surg. Definitely a strong foundation to have, so study hard!
