Ok, so I'm a real "sappy dork" today & I just want a moment to whine (even tho that's not really the right word)

We have all of our 2.0 MDS's done and ready to transmit tomorrow. 12 years of my life spent becoming an "expert" at something. A job I could always confidently say "I'm really good at this" & the few people in the world that actually knew what an MDS was would agree with me. Heck, I've even caught myself signing my name with MDS sections behind my signature on personal business checks - blond moments

I thought it was just me until our Social Service director came to inform me she was done as well & and admitted she was kinda sad about the whole thing. I hadn't told her that I was feeling the same way because it just sounds so stupid! Before the day was over the fulltime MDS nurse also admitted to being a little down about the whole thing.

End result, we are having a "going away party" tomorrow for the 2.0. The rest of the building thinks we have finally "lost it" over the 3.0 stress. LOL

Any of you old time MDS people feeling this? Maybe I really am a sappy dork.:lol2:

I agree. I was the RNAC for 6 years and you know I liked my job- and I too felt it was something I was good at. I think it helped that I am way anal, compulsive, and love details. I have recently became the DON and trust me there are days I miss completing the MDS. I am trying to keep up with the 3.0 changes, but I will always remember the 2.0- it is embedded in my brain.

Yes, I am sad to see the 2.0 die.

Now I have to learn the process all over again.

I don't know what to think about this 3.0.....

My Boss & I are going to learn it but we don't know if we will stay in it.....

Hey Bella...I was thinking of you Tuesday. I was in Indy at the state MDS 3.0 training & thinking I should have messaged you to see if you planned to attend any of these seminars. Thought it may have been fun to meet.

Specializes in LTC, WCC, MDS Coordinator.

Just started as MDS Coordinator again a couple weeks ago after being out of it for about 8 years. I remember the changeover to MDS 2.0 from the "Blue Bible". Guess I'll just "go with the flow" and learn again. At least the last two weeks I've felt like I kind of knew what I was doing and yesterday I felt like I had the hang of it again. Good-bye 2.0! But it sure was easier to carry the "Blue Bible" around!!! :yeah:

It'll be a good thing to change but 2,0 was a puzzle i loved to play.

I am looking forward to learning the new puzzle too.

Hi,

I'm new to this board, came across it a couple of days ago. Personally when I got all my assessments done, submitted to state and printed off gobs of stuff I may need for next couple of months from 2.0 I was more than glad to say so long fare well to 2.0. I wont miss it. I did a couple of 3.0's today and it wasn't to bad, we've been using all the forms since Sept and the CNA's and nurses use Dart Chart computerized charting and the software for that started beginning of Sept also so we were able to work out some of the kinks.
