MDS ARD dates

Hello, I am new to this forum but do have a question.

I have a Resident which Rehab has set his ARD for 12/10/11 (14 day assess). Since I would not be working that day I opened a MDS on 12/8/11 thinking when I came back on 12/12/11 I could change the ARD. I can't seem to or it's not allowed ? My DOH who has been a MDS nurse for years with 2.0 could'nt understand why I can't change the date. I know I can't back date. Not sure what to do now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Emily

So when you opened the MDS on the 8th you couldn't put the 10th in as the ARD? If you are able I would do that versus trying to change the ARD after the fact. I don't know why you can't change it. I can change ours without a problem. Is it a software glitch? Have you contacted the company? If I want to change an ARD, I have to go under "Change assessment". But again, it is easier just to set the ARD to the correct date the first time, regardless if you are going to be there or not.

This can be just software-specific or a security right issue (e.g. changing ARD is not assigned). Try going to Section A and change the ARD manually in A2300. If it still doesn't allow you, just delete the 14-day (or lock, keep in file and don't submit). Create a new one w/ the desired ARD.

It is permissible to set and switch ARDs as long as you're within the ARD window of each PPS assm't. Even if outside the window already, since this is an unexpected snag of a factual event, go ahead and set the desired ARD. Document reason.

Thank You PsychNurse and Talino for your quick replies. I went into work this morning and called our vender and it was a security issue. What a relief.

Again thank you.
