MDC 2009 Spring Hopefulls!!!

Published

ugh- Where shall I begin... BLAH- didn't get accepted into MDC's Nursing Program first time around. Application is in for the spring. This application round Ive completed all pre-reqs and co-reqs

Have my A.A -- 71 credits hrs 3.45 gpa

Science gpa 3.57

Overall cum 3.26 :crying2: (retaking a 4 credit hr class; it will definitely put it in the 3.5 avg after this fall term)

A bit confused because i'm not exactly sure whether acceptance will be based on my A.A gpa or my cum gpa? Does having the A.A even help any? Some-1, anyONE please give me a glimpse of hope>???

AnyONE else on the same BOAT here?

I would've loved to apply to Barry for their BSN program, but it's to expensive for me! There are always loans, so if I don't get into MDC, I will try to apply to Barry! and Nova! You know what would be awesome if MDC had a BSN program (not just RN to BSN program)!

And if they only looked at classes that ones taken at MDC, then I'd have a 4.0, but considering the fact that 60 of my credits were taken at an upper level university...well what the hell...guess that doesn't really mean much to them lol I'm sounding bitter now!

LOL! What did you study in FSU? I just graduated last year!

was working on the BSN track and getting ready to apply to Nursing Program at FSU when I decided I needed to take a break from school lol--dumb move on my part. What did you study? Did you get an invite to the info session for MDC?

I got my Bachelor's in Social Work. I wish I could've done the BSN track but I wasn't thinking! Yes I got the invite two weeks ago. It was just an info session about the scholars program they have with Jackson and Baptist.

Dude, I think that kinda means you're pretty much in the program. I have not heard of anyone who gets invited to the info session and not get accepted into MDC's program! I may be wrong, I honestly think that you're pretty much IN! :o) So, that means letters should start going out soon...

Really? I never really heard about this information session before. My bestfriend was in the accelerated program last year and she never heard of it either. Maybe it's just for Generic? Who knows. Have you spoken to anyone at MDC to check the status of ur application?

I could be extremely wrong, so don't quote me on it. LoL

Everything I call, they seem to know nothing. I figured I would just wait for the LETTER...I'll probably go in to the Medical campus and ask to speak with an advisor and see what they tell me. Have you heard anything yet? Oh man, I also applied to the Phlebotomy Program as a last resort...I would be super depressed if I didn't get into that one either LoL

LOL! I don't know, if I don't get in, I'm gonna be pretty depressed myself! I call MDC everyday but I kinda get the run around, they are pretty discreet about everything!

Breathe, I think you will be just fine! You have a 3.5 and that's usually the knock off point for most students to get into their program. And if you don't get in then you apply again for the Fall term. Waiting sucks and I may just go into MDC tmrw and see what I can get out of the advisors haha. And what made you decide to go into Nursing after graduating?

Well ever since highschool, I always wanted to be a Nurse. I went to a local highschool that had a vocational program to obtain certificates in health-related fields like Home Health Aide, EKG Tech, CNA, etc. Anyway, when I graduated highschool, a couple days later I was already at FSU for the summer semester. I was 17, and I wasn't focused on my studies! So I ended up earning my Social Work degree and now I want to use both my Social Work degree and my RN license to help people.

Thats awesome dude! Well I wish you the best of luck and YOU gotta let me know when you get your acceptance letter!!!!!!!!!!!
