MDC Nursing Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I just wanted to start a thread for applicants of the nursing program at Miami Dade College for Fall term 2017. I'm currently working on my last prerequisites and will be finished this semester. I plan on taking the HESI A2 in January and applying for the Generic and Part time tracks.

Yes, I'm at excess credits. I don't have a degree, but I changed majors late to Nursing so I have 76 credits in total right now. :(

It says "A review of our records indicates that you are approaching the maximum number of credits allowed for participating in the federal financial aid programs. Once you reach the maximum allowed, it may result in the loss of financial aid in future terms."

I'm confused because I don't know if this means they will cut off my financial aid starting for this fall term or spring term 2018. My financial aid shows a reward for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018, but I registered for classes and they have not been covered yet. I emailed the financial aid department to see what I have to do next to start this appeal. I've started typing my appeal letter.

I paid my tuition for the Fall term already because I didn't want to get dropped from my classes. Payment is due on 8/9/17. I was planning on using financial aid to pay for the Spring term. I didn't get an email about excess credits. I wonder why. Do you think it depends on if/when you received your degree?

Luckily, I just checked about two hours ago and financial aid covered my fall classes. What a relief. :)

Candor29, I'm not very sure either. I assume it goes out to students when they are close to reaching the 150% credits limit mark for their AA/AS program.

Are the mandatory white shoes for clinics only ? If so can anobody tell me if these 2 shoes are acceptable? They both have leather but the Nike shoe has little holes in the front shoe and the Reebok has a gum color bottom. Access Denied https://m.footlocker.com/?uri=product&sku=49797&model=172142&cm=GLOBAL%20SEARCH:%20KEYWORD%20SEARCH

Hello All,

Enrolled in Full Time Generic this Fall 2017 at Homestead Campus. Just wondering what everyone is doing about books. Does anyone have any used first semester books lying around to sell?? Thanks

My understanding is that yes, the white shoes are only for clinicals. You can wear whatever color shoes you'd like for class as long as they're closed-toe. I think they can't be fabric for labs through. The chair person mentioned this at orientation.

Also, those shoes look great. I'm sure they will work well if they are comfortable for you to wear. :)

I rented my books on Amazon. I think they came up to about $118 in total for all of them.

I bought my books from the bookstore. The three main books average about $80 a piece with the package deal.

Hello everyone! Congrats to everyone who got accepted to the program! :) My boyfriend and I both got accepted to generic full-time at medical campus and are super excited to start. However, we are starting to get really anxious about financial aid. We both applied at the beginning of July and have yet to hear anything back. I was just wondering, have a majority of you received financial aid yet or at least heard something back, or are you still waiting? I would really appreciate some feedback to help ease the worrying! :(

Congratulations to you and your boyfriend mbenyi! I am also doing Full Time Generic at Medical Campus. I received financial aid a few days ago and my classes have been paid. I completed my FAFSA for 2017-2018 back in October 2016, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Have you tried contacting the Financial Aid Department at the Medical Campus?

We filled out our FAFSA back in October as well, but we submitted our actual application for financial aid on July 1st because we weren't aware of a deadline  I'm starting to get worried that since we turned the application in so late that we won't be able to get financial aid. I called financial aid about a week ago and someone said they would call me back but they never did. I've been checking my financial aid status daily. After submitting your financial aid application, how long did it take for you to hear back?

I didn't fill out any other application other than the 2017-2018 FAFSA. They just used my W2s and other tax information from 2015. I wasn't asked for any documentation or to fill out any other financial aid applications this year. I received financial aid for my Fall term classes on July 28.
