MDC Nursing Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I just wanted to start a thread for applicants of the nursing program at Miami Dade College for Fall term 2017. I'm currently working on my last prerequisites and will be finished this semester. I plan on taking the HESI A2 in January and applying for the Generic and Part time tracks.

I really wish I knew. The advisors told me that supposedly they were picking students with the highest GPAs and going down the list until they chose all the students. Took the TEAS entrance exam and I can't remember by scores back then but I got a 73% on the HESI. My GPA is 3.07 and I don't know how to calculate my science GPA.

I have seen students get accepted with lower scores so I really hope this time is my time. Good luck to you all!!

well if i can be of any assistance you can use this website to calculate your science GPA. you calculate anatomy 1 and lab, anatomy 2 and lab, Chemistry and lab, and microbiology lecture.

GPA Calculator - Advisement and Career Services - Miami Dade College

lab is 1 credit and lecture is 3 because it will ask you to input it.

Hello Everyone!

I'm sorry for being late, but i have a Hesi score of a 73.43 and a 3.8 science GPA. My Competative score is a 82.058. i am so excited, i can't wait until June and i wish you all the best of luck!

Hey all! Good luck on your future studies. I'm currently in my third semester of nursing school and just registered for my last semester yesterday. I was accepted in MDC for the Fall 2016 cohort and acceptance letters were sent out June 9th for that group. A couple more weeks! Let me know if you have any questions. More than happy to help.

I have a few questions. After getting accepted into the program, do the students get to register for classes on their own or do the advisors have to do it? What do you enjoy most about your time in the program thus far? Are you working while in the program? If so, have you had any difficulty managing everything else or is it reasonable/workable?

Thank you so much! I'll calculate it shortly...taking girls to school now...and I'll let you know!

Do you know how I calculate my competitive score?

Hesi score x .60 = n

Science gpa x 10= n

Add those two numbers=competitive score.

Ok...my science GPA is 2.73 (ouch) and my competitive score is 71.1 (which is not very competitive)...Soooooo fingers crossed for me! Good luck to everyone!

How's everyone doing?!?! Anyway, sit back, relax and enjoy the wait time. Called today and they said we wont here anything for another "4 to 5 more weeks". I hope its sooner than that.

You know what...that's good to know. I'm truly just going to stick by my motto. "Don't stress about things you cannot handle." Thinking positive, and enjoying the free time because I think we'll miss it soon!

Really?! Ugh, I've been checking my email like ten times a day! Hopefully it's sooner than that! Anyway, thanks for the heads up!

O jeeze, I called today too and an adviser told be to start checking my email daily 3 weeks from now!

Keep your head up, positive thoughts only. Have you tried to retake the Hesi to get a higher composite score?
