Hi everyone! I just wanted to start a thread for applicants of the nursing program at Miami Dade College for Fall term 2017. I'm currently working on my last prerequisites and will be finished this semester. I plan on taking the HESI A2 in January and applying for the Generic and Part time tracks.
I'm not sure if this question was for me or osc25387, but I'll respond. In my opinion, the second time was harder than the first time I took it. I didn't study much the first time, but still passed. Most of the science questions were more random and specific the second time. My reading score dropped 4 points. I previously had a 96 now it's a 92. I significantly improved my math score by increasing my study time. The level of difficulty was about the same. I had a lot of word problems, some fractions, fill-in response type questions, and a few ratios. I scored a 90 on this section the second time. The math section was the main reason I decided to retake the Hesi.
Thank you for responding my score was 76 hesi i still was able to register i still have to do microbiology and chemistry in the summer so i applied for spring 2018.
I recommend that you retake the Hesi after you complete your science courses. Chemistry is the hardest section. The class average was a 68%. The first time I took it I had to do math in that section too. I had to calculate the mole of the numbers given to me and molecular weight of a certain compound. The second time they asked about atomic radius and other questions that you would need to reference on the periodic table like redox reactions of an element. You never really know what kind of questions you are going to get when it comes to the sciences. I was able to maintain a 92% in the Chemistry section because I took it in the Fall 2016. The biochemistry section of the Chemistry course even helped me to answer a Biology question on the Hesi. Sorry for being long-winded, but I don't want you to be blindsided.
I appreciate your feedback.
I guess I should have waited I got 92 on A&p section. I didn't study at all I could not work that calculator for nothing. I was using the scrap paper and it was a disaster.
If am applied for spring 2018 will I still get a letter the same time the persons for the fall get their letter? The reason for me asking was that I submitted the application already
Sorry, I edited my original comment once I realized you submitted your application already and will not be retaking the Hesi. I don't think so. Spring admission is an entirely different application cycle. The deadline is September 1st. You may receive a email mid October. We will find out after May 1st sometime around June if we have been accepted or not.

i got it override but in order for that to have been approved i have to take both chem and micro together. the advisor told me to look out for email in june. i was kind of confuse about it since i applied for spring 2018.

Ok. I think you should speak to another advisor. As we all realize now, they tend to give out conflicting information.
That's awesome. If i wanted to retake the hesi although i registered for spring. Do i need to resubmit the application or they will take the higher score?
I'm not sure if you can swap out submitted test scores or rescind a program application. Follow-up with an advisor on Monday. Hopefully they can clear up any misunderstandings.

I wonder how large the applicant pool is for the Fall 2017 term. I read MDC usually has 250 total seats. 100 for Medical Campus, 50 for Homestead, 50 for Accelerated, and 50 for part-time.
