MDC Accelerated Program

U.S.A. Florida

i'm planning to apply to mdc's accelerated nursing program for fall 2009. i just wanted to know if anyone is currently in the prgoram, or has graduated from it already and can provide me with some insight into the prgoram. specifically i'd like to know about the program's level of difficulty, the schedule with classes and clinicals, how thorough the program is, if any scholarship opportunities exist, etc. how succesful are students with the accelerated option? doing well in this program is imperative for me as i plan to get an advanved degree in an extremely competitive area, and a siginificant deciding factor in whether or not i have a shot of acceptance is how well i do in nursing school. is it possible to get all a's in mdc's accelerated program? any information would be helpful and very much appreciated. thanks!

In regards to the acceptance letters, I believe they send them out after the rejection letters. Rejection letters are usually sent in mid to late May.

Yes, I was told that rejection letters go out first and if you have not heard anything from them by late June, you should likely expect that you have not been accepted (this is what the advisor told me). Acceptance letters come directly from the Nursing school and go out first, whereas rejection letters come from the advisment office (they send them out). Of course they go out last because MDC needs to wait until everyone who has been accepted to either accept or refuse their seat, before rejecting the next person on the list. Good luck to all of us! I also have a 4.0! But like I said, the advisor told me that they have never had 40 4.0's and she doubts they ever will...yeah, but I'm still nervous too...lol.

I called today b/c she told me to call at the end of the month and I could be informed on the minimum GPA this semester; however, when I called she told me that they still haven't completed the submissions to let the computer do the ranking. She said to call her back in another 2 weeks. So I'm thinking wow, if they haven't even gotten that far yet, then we must have a much longer time to wait. It's kind of weird because I thought they would start mailing out soon. I guess we have longer than we thought. I will try again in two weeks guys!!!

hey mommy'sgirl, i went and saw an advisor yesterday at the medical campus and he told me that the acceptance letters will be out for the last week of june. whenever anyone hears something let us know and i will keep you updated to what i hear on my part. ; ) gluck everyone

Hello Mortero, thank you for your many replies. If you want to keep busy you should check out the thread titled "Any Miami Dade College students going for the Acceler. or Generic option fall 2009?" They have so many new replies from May 26 until today. I think from like page 9 until, because we don't get a whole lot of responses on this thread so I decided to subscribe to that one as well. One reply says that they called the nursing depart. directly and they said that letters go out next week. Last year fall someone rec'v their letter May 28th, so we are just wayyyyy behind. Don't hesitate to send me a mess'g anytime!

hey mommy'sgirl, i def. will check out the other thread. Also feel free to ever write me a message. ; )

I keep reading that the letter for mandatory information session only goes to the people in the top of the ranking, and that if you get that then you are accepted. I really need to know, are the people who only applied to accelerated included in this invite? I know for a fact that generic option is included in the invite because it takes two years for them to graduate, but accelerated is only a year and I think scholars is a two yr prog. Can anyone help me out with this? I know people are going to get an invite soon and I don't want to be crying and stressed when I don't if it is only b/c accelerated is not included.

both accelerated and generic (full and part-time generic) all attend orientation together at least they did when I attended back in 06.

Are you speaking of just orientation or Scholars. Do we get to be a part of the scholars program? Sorry for all the questions...Thanks in advance

hey mommysgirl, i called this morning the medical campus. One of the advisors told me that they are very behind and the accpetance letters will def. not be out until the first week of july. She said that nothing will be sent out before that. I have not recieved any invites at all for anything. When i met up with one advisor 2 weeks ago he explained that when you recieve the accpetance package in there it will give you all the information and a date in july he said for an orientation. In the orientation it is all the nursing students and we pick the classes there and then august 28 is the first day of classes. keep me updated when you recieve something if you can.

thank you

Hey Mortero, we haven't heard much from you on the other thread that I told you about, there has been about 2 or 3 pages of discussion since you last replied, and it is interesting. With that said, have you called the campus lately or heard anything else where acceptance is concerned?

hey mommy'sgirl, yea i have been looking on the other thread. I called yesterday and the lady told me for sure they will be out for the first week of july. I really do believe her. I have not heard anything from anyone i know or anything on this website. By the way off topic i am a girl, but my username might not look like it. It was this amazing restaurant i ate at in mexico and i used the name. Have you heard anything?
