Any advice would be great!
I will be graduating from a medical school in May 2017 with a diploma (M.D.) in June 2017. All my clinical training are in USA and Canada. I was a LPN back in 2011 (which I work for a 1.5 year since graduation and continue on to the medical school). CLPNBC has stated if I didn't work for 1125 hours in the past 5 years, I need to re-attend the class to get my license back (16 months)! I am hoping to work as a LPN for a year before my medical residency training start!
Anyone has any advice? or know where I can work to get my LPN license back or even obtain the hours to work as a practical nurse? Any suggestions will be great! Thank you in advance!

Just wondering how you can graduate as an MD with a diploma? MD (I'm assuming you mean medical doctor?) is essentially a Ph.D.
The requirements are strict as far as nursing is concerned. Unless you fulfill the hour requirement, you will be required to take a refresher course.

You didn't get a residency? What specialty are you hoping for?
Cant you practice as a GP?

Are you a Canadian student currently attending a Caribbean medical school and hoping for a residency match post grad? Instead of reactivating your PN license, consider applying to work in clinical research.

This is just my two cents but
1. Even if you did get your lpn license back, you will not be able to keep up with working and maintaining hours when you are a doctor, so is the license worth it? You will get tons of clinical experience for the next 4-6 years of your life as resident, fellow etc
2. Why not work for research?
Joanna 73: Thank you for replying! I kept thinking MD means medical diploma, I guess I"m wrong, it's doctor of medicine. Can you tell me the refreshment courses? The person who's in charge of BC reinstatement of LPN requires me to go through school all over again, 16 months! If you have info regards to refreshment courses that doesn't require 16 months, please do let me know! Thank you!
Fiona59: I'm interested in Family physician! I am applying residency next year (2018) so I have almost a year gap. I"m hoping to go back to work and keep my medical knowledge!
Dish: Thank you for getting back to me, regards to clinical research, I have looked over couples sites but all are in USA, and I"m Canadian which I mean I need working visa! And yes, I will a Caribbean Medical School Graduate! If you have more info regards to clinical research in Canada that would be great! Thank you in advance!
Companisbiki: I do want to work in clinical research but most of it are in USA, and I"m Canadian, I will be facing visa problem. Beside, I would like to work as a LPN now because it allows me to work as a part time job or pick up casual shifts since I"m prep for exams! Also, I need monetary support!
Mistake, sorry!

Why don't you get an LPN job where you are licensed as an LPN in Canada and work your required hours? If they have already taken away the license because of your timing, I would not waste any more time on it. Take the other suggestions into consideration and put your energies into your medical background. In the US, for the most part, LPN employment does not even count for those who hold an RN license, so I can't see how it will help a new doctor. If you want to keep up with your medical knowledge without working, then review your texts and other study materials. (Your post is not clear, the title says you have lost the LPN license, but you talk about working as an LPN for X number of hours in the post itself).
Hello Caliotters
Thank you for getting back to me! I lost of my license so I won't able to work anywhere in Canada. I have worked as a LPN in 2010-2011 more than 1125 hours but that's > 5 years ago. In addition, I will be studying for exams so I'll keep my medical knowledge. It just when comes to interview during residency period, many program directors will ask what have you been doing since graduation! If I work as a LPN, I can reply to them I have been working as a nurse to have myself continue exposure to clinical field. In addition, I need monetary support! Lastly, I have been looking for clinical research jobs, trust me!

Search centerwatch.com for a list of current clinical trials located in Vancouver. Read the PIs previous clinical research publications and become familiar with their work. If you know anyone who works at the site location, ask if they can introduce you to the research staff. Once introduced to the staff, ask if there are any opportunities for IMGs to help in the research department.
Thanx I"ll look into it!
In addition to trying to find a research assistant position, find out if it is possible to volunteer at a supervised injection site, or a primary health community clinic for vulnerable or marginalized people, you can find information on both types of clinics on Vancouvercoastalhealth.
