MCPHS ABSN Spring 2016

Published

Hey all! Just wondering if anyone else has gotten into the January 2016 ABSN program at MCPHS? 😊😊

Anyone know if there's a fb page for our class? And where we might be able to find a schedule?

If you had your interview on 09/18, you should hear back in about a week and a half. They are pretty quick!!

I don't know about a fb page but i do have an idea about their schedule. lecture from 8:30 am to 12 pm and then lab from 1 to 3pm or 3 to 5pm, depending on what lab schedule you are in. And there are a couple of open lab hours where we can go in and practice. there are about 2 to 3 exams per week. I know somebody who started the BSN program this September and that's how i found out some info about the program.

oh okay, so lab would be EITHER 1-3 or 3-5, not both? Just wondering. I have two little ones at home so I'm anxious to see the schedule to see where I'll be able to find some extra studying time at the school (cause my house doesn't become quiet til 8pm! lol)

Hey y'all,

for N1 (first semester), expect pretty solid 8:30-5 class all day every day, with maybe one half-day a week.

Yes, only one lab! not all of them (usually 2/3 scheduled, you're split up into sections).

Yes, the admissions office will make a facebook group for your cohort.

I wrote a LOT about the program and answered lots of questions on the structure etc. on this thread: https://allnurses.com/massachusetts-nursing/be-honest-absn-986052.html

Feel free to PM if you need!

Thank you! Last but not least, what do you suggest for a school supply list? I don't have a small tablet/PC and wasn't planning on purchasing one but I don't want to regret that once we've started. I have a laptop at home but it's large so I don't plan on lugging it around with me. I was planning on using the old pen & paper method but was looking for suggestions from someone already in the program?

Thanks for the info! Can't wait to get started in a few months!

I don't think you specifically need to buy a tablet/portable PC; what most people find most useful is to print the slides and make notes on those during lectures. I would say index cards, highlighters or colours, and binders or files would be your best bet. Also the clicker on the booklist for classroom responses!

Hi everyone! Congrats on all of the acceptances! Today I got a large letter in the mail from them, figuring it was an acceptance.... But no! It was an information pamphlet with a letter thanking me for my interest in the program and that I should apply when I want to. Well, I already applied about two weeks ago! Just wondering if this happened to anyone else!

Oh gosh, sorry that happened!! It does take some time for them to process applications and make sure everything's there and set before they formally consider you, so I wouldn't read too much into it!

Did you request information on the program from the school? did you apply through NursingCAS or direct to MCPHS? I wouldn't read much into it either but I would also call Admissions to check the status of your application for this reason. Good luck, hope to see you in a few months!

I applied through nursingCAS, so I figured it was an automatic thing that they send out, but I was just curious if anyone else got it!
