McMaster University vs University of Toronto (U of T) - MNNP?

Published

Hey --

Trying to decide between the University of Toronto and McMaster for their MNNP program. I have heard great things about U of T (eg: less rigidity around working whilst in school/ability to balance work, school, and life; mainly asynch. first year) but tuition is quite expensive in comparison to McMaster. I have heard that McMaster also has a bad reputation for work/life balance and essentially expects that students in their programs do not work.

Any intel?

Hi aem2024,

Congratulations on getting into both programs! I personally don't have any experience with both programs, but coming from the GTA I guess you could take into consideration job opportunities after you graduate. If you go to McMaster, are your placements going to mostly be in Hamilton, versus UofT which has a lot of partnering hospitals in the GTA?

Would you prefer to live in Hamilton or Toronto? These are questions you should consider.

Hey! which one did you end up choosing? I am in the same boat trying to decide between the two.

Hi! I ended up choosing McMaster 🙂 The cost was a big factor for me.

Hi! How's the program so far? I'm assuming you are almost finished first year at Mac NP? How's the work-life balance, teaching style, etc.
