I'm being impatient and not sure I want to wait for the ATI study guide to arrive in the mail if I order it.
I can get the Mcgraw Hill study guide from my library or a book store close by. Has anyone ever done a side by side comparison to see how they stack up against each other?

the ati study guide is basically cover the entire exam. the mcgraw hill book is a nice complement. i would mainly study off of the ati book and use mcgraw for science and english

I agree with Brighten, but be careful with the McGraw-Hill book as it does contain some printing errors, and they are somewhat obvious. Check out a thread I started last summer:

I like the ATI book, but the science is much more like the test in the McGraw book (or so I've heard). Wouldn't you want top maximize your chances of doing well by getting them both?
Thanks for the responses, I'm going to order the ATI guide and probably just borrow the Mcgraw Hill from my library.

Hello everyone!
I am glad that you made this post, because I am debating on the exact decision. I am planning on taking the test in about a month or so, I will soon order the ATI package which has the study manual and the online practice assessments. I am able to access the McGraw book from my library. Please advise on what else I be preparing for the test. I recently decided to go for nursing and I am very passionate about the career.
Thank you.

The ATI book is all you really need (buy from Amazon or eBay, much cheaper than the ATI website). I needed to save money so I bought only one of the online practice tests, which I recommend as it gives you a report at the end showing your score for the practice test and pinpoints what areas you still need to study based on your wrong answers (plus the page #s for those topics that correspond to the ATI book). The book also comes with 2 tests, one which you should use as a pretest to see where you should focus your studies. The McGraw book I hardly used, only once or twice for the science section. I got a 90% on the test, I actually thought the real test was easier. I was scoring @ 10 points lower on the practice ones.

i have both books and i felt the ati study guide helped more because the questions are formated the same way the test questions are where in the mcgraw hill the study guide is used for multiple types of tests so the format is different. good luck! :)

When I ordered my ATI book (direct from the ATI site) it arrived really quick, so if that's a concern I don't think you have to be too worried. It only took a couple of days for it to arrive. Also, I haven't taken the TEAS test yet, but from reading the threads here on allnurses I find that most people find the ATI book extremely useful (minus the science section).
