MCC Nursing Program Info - Just Got In

Published

Just got accepted into MCC's 4 semester Nurse program.

My question is,,,,,,what is the school/clinical schedule like?

I heard at Chandler/Gilbert they run like 3-4 full days a week and the rest are off.

Do you attend classes everyday or is there one day where you attend classes all day?

I do plan on working full time while doing this, but I work at a job that is flexible and I only work 10 days a month. Plus I can study at work pretty much all the time.

So anybody have any info on the Block 1 schedule that they may have experienced?

Also, do you get to pick your schedule or are the classes just assigned to you and you accept it?

Thanks everyone.

Hi,

I am in my first block at Glendale Community College in the traditional program and I was not able to choose my schedule. I go to class Mondays and Tuesdays from 7:00 AM to 1:30 PM (these are also the days that we go to clinicals) but our times are from 6:30 AM to 1:00 PM on clinical days. And then on Wednesday and Thursdays, I have class from 6:50 AM to about 1:00 PM. You also have to spend an hour in the lab each week outside of class time and when there are checkoffs, you will have to spend even more time in the lab. Fridays are testing days and you can go anytime of the day that you would like. There is a ton of reading to do so even though I finish school in the afternoon, I still come home and study until about 5:00 PM. I work only about 8-12 hours a week depending if there is a test or not that week. I hope this helps! :) Good luck! :)

Erika123... Where do you work? I am interested in maybe finding something I can do part time, like you are, but am having a hard time finding a place that would be that flexible. Thanks!

I work at a law office. I have worked there for three years and then I quit when I first started the nursing program because I was not sure if I would be able to work at the same time but then I came back because the extra cash helped out here and there. They are really great. My aunt and uncle are two of the attorneys there so I guess they can be a little bit more flexible but everyone there is going to school as well, and they all are able to choose their hours.

nice!!! Are they hiring?!?! :chuckle

Sorry they are not hiring.

Wow, hopefully. i'll get lucky im done with my co'reqs and some of my preques, so hopefully i get pick! next sem..I'm taking the net tommorow or next week..

Hey there.....I got in also at the Boswell location:lol2:..Isn't this exciting? i applied on January just when I found out they bumped some pre-reqs into core-reqs....and being an employee at Del E. Webb Hospital helped me too because when I applied, I got in to one of the 15 seats reserved for just employees of Sun Health:yeah:...So really, I didn't wait long (say, 1 month). But anyway, I am excited and hopefully I will meet those who got accepted during the orientation (which I probably would but I am the shy type:mad: and I tend to be on the corner a lot...lol)....So again, congrats and hope to see you in class!

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site...I just got my acceptance letter to MCC's nursing program for the Spring 09 semester! I can't wait!!! Who else was accepted!?

I'm also waiting to hear back from Banner's Nurse Fellow Program for the Spring semester too. It would be awesome if I was accepted into that since they'll pay for most of it! :nuke:

you waited a year to get your acceptance letter? i thought you know if you're accepted when they send out the hesi letters in april of each year. can you explain this to me please. i took my hesi in december and i'm starting my p/a class tomorrow so i still have like 3 other pre-req's to take.

Well, I don't know what MCC's schedule is like, but I'm just starting at Phoenix College. I have lab on Tuesdays from 8:00-2:00, clinicals on Wednesdays (varied times), and then class on Thursdays from 1:00-6:00. So Mondays and Fridays are completely free for me to work, if I can handle it.
