MCC March starts

U.S.A. Michigan

Hi,

If you are starting nursing program at Macomb in March say Hello :nurse:

Hi,

I started in March too. Just had the one clinical class so far, on Thursday. The Prof. is sooo funny and sarcastic so far and I love it! We were all nervous about the expectations and everything and she calmed us down very nicely.

I also bought all of my books online, all on Amazon and eBay and that saved me about $250 as opposed to buying from the school store. I also called teachers about buying older editions so I would check that out too. I bought the older Nursing Diagnosis, 12th ed, after I got the OK from the teacher. Someone has a Clinical Calculations book that is about 2 ed old and our teacher said it was OK too.

Another thing, I don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere on this site, but you can buy used uniforms from The Nursing Lab Supervisor for $10 for each piece. There's a limited selection of scrubs but if you can get even one piece that fits, you'll be saving a ton of money!

I went to the Macomb Student Nurse Association meeting that was held just before the March start and they said they were going a different way with the uniforms in the future and that they'd be much cheaper and available in the school store.

One last note, I was so surprised when I bought the nurse pack and it was $80-90! For some reason, I thought it was this little dissection tool kit that was actually for the vet tech students, LoL.

Oh, and my mom, who's a nurse, told me that she could've gotten me everything in the nurse pack much cheaper. Everything school related is such a rip off, and they're ripping off one of the poorest populations- students! Ah well, whataya gonna do?

I guess I'll see all 40-ish of us in this class on Mon the 22nd for 1510 at 9am =)

p.s.

I'm guessing that everyone else will also be doing the packet homework for the class that came with the syllabus.

p.p.s.

If anyone wants to chat about anything nursing school related just send me a message. I wanted to ask so many questions (and still do!) I think I bugged the heck outta the office everyday =P They really should have a Macomb website/forum specifically for us nursing students just starting out. There was one listed in the "Success In The Nursing Program" booklet but it's defunct.

Ok, I'm sorry I'm still laughing at "Gaylor Focker"................

Glad to see you have a sense of humor :D

If you have any questions, fire away!!! I will try to answer.

Hi Mzam2012,

Glad I could bring a smile to your face =)

I will definitely send you a message when another question strikes, thanx!

Can you Access Angel? They have moved the MCC forum there. You should be enrolled as a member. Doesn't seem like anyone uses it though since it moved but maybe you newguys can change that.

ps. Yes the nurse pack is a huge waste of money. Almost all of mine is sitting unused.

I haven't been able to access angel yet. When do we get the access? I have it from another online class but I can't seem to find anything to do with this.

just an update:

i have edited several posts to comply with the terms of service.

please note:

linking to websites / solicitations:

we do not allow any self promotional post announcing websites to gain exposure, it does not matter if it is non-profit. this includes personal off-site blogs. it is against board rules to invite, solicit or coerce others to join other community websites through posts, email, pm, use of allnurses.com membership list or any other resource within the allnurses.com website. we allow linking to other information websites, as long as it is for informational purposes and not for self promotion advertisement. staff members may remove or edit links at its discretion.

thank you for your understanding! :)

I know this may be a silly question that I can easily find the answer to but I am interested in applying here for next year and wanted to know the deadline for applying.

Hi A4L4S,

I can access Angel but the only forum I see there is pretty much just where people intro themselves for the Angel orientation. I've posted on there and it seems that they clear the boards out pretty frequently.

I'd like the code for the Macomb SNA group on Angel so I can join but I don't know where to get it from.

MsAshley,

I tried to PM you but I don't know if we have to be friends or what first. I couldn't figure out how to do it since I didn't want to post a website link on here (not sure if I'm allowed.) Here's some info though:

All appropriate documentation must be on file with Center Campus Enrollment Services by the February 15, 2011 application deadline date for the program. Fall 2011 nursing packets are under review and should be available by April 15, 2010.

And lastly, sorry for violating the TOS. Im sure I did it a few times. =o

gaylord,

i don't think there is a code or anything. i just logged into angel one day for an online class i was taking at the time and the nursing group was on there, on the left side under my other course. just appeared on it's own. i didn't have a code or anything.

how you ever accessed angel and done the online orientation for it?

username: your webadvisor user id.

password: your default password is your 6-digit date of birth {mmddyy}.

please note: if you have trouble logging into angel with your 6-digit default password, omit the leading zero in your birth date.

if you have access to angel and it is still not there i would call the nursing office and ask for help. sorry i can't provide more. maybe they just haven't added the march starts yet.

good luck in the program.
