MCC- admission process anyone know?

Published

Hi Everyone! I was trying to find information out on Macomb county community colleges nursing program. I looked on their site and it seemed like admission was based on 50% gpa of composition one, microbiology and anatomy 1, and 50% on a students HESI score.

My question is, how does that work exactly? When is the deadline? When do classes start? I have taken composition 1, am currently in anatomy 1 and will take microbiology in the fall semester (to be done sometime in december). When is the earliest I can apply?

Is there a waitlist for this program?

any information would be appreciated, thanks!!!

No waitlist.

They take the grades in those particular classes and they figure your gpa for those classes. Then you sign up to take the HESI (should be coming up or already started, should be listed on the site) and whatever your score for that is they use in combination with the GPA to come up with your score. They use this to rank you. The deadline to have the pre-reqs and the HESI completed is in February 15th, 2010.

This link has the information on the HESI.

If you do a search, there is a ton of information on when classes start and all that.

The classes start 4 times a year (August, October, January, March) and it is dependent on your ranking when you start (basically, you can request an earlier or later date, but the higher your ranking the more likely you start sooner).

Try to schedule your HESI ASAP because they only let 1000 students test per year (for all selective admission programs) - Registration for the HESI started 7/15/09, there is a $55.00 fee to take the exam. They also have a very informative nursing seminar that you can goto for free - they will answer all of your questions. The schedule of these seminars are in the selective admission packet online, but the next few dates are 8/10, 8/24, 9/08, 9/23. Hope this helps and Good luck!

They take your GPA from those classes and your HESI score and average it out. Top 160 people win! Deadline is Feb. 15th. HESI tests schedule in July for Nov., Dec., & Jan. tests dates (if you haven't scheduled it already you may be too late because they fill up fast and only have slots for 1,000 testers). Classes to be considered need to be completed by Jan. There are 4 starts (Aug., Oct., Jan., & Mar.). Start dates are determined by your rank within that 160 (best scorers start first). No waitlist...just keep reapplying each year until you make it. Past practice has been that GPA of 4.0 and 92% on HESI will get you in. Good luck!
