I will have a new Kindergartner this year with MCADD. Does anyone have any experience with this d/o? I have been reading up on it but wanted to know if anyone else has had experience taking care of a student with this diagnosis.
Thanks!

No, I had to Google it.
Wave Watcher, I forgot, are you HS or grade school?
I would guess you'd have to keep snacks, educate the teachers, etc. I wonder how PE would play into this?
Hey, Farawayn! I am in elementary school. I spoke to the nurse specialist who has been taking care of this child for 5 years. She really calmed my concerns and fears. Each person with this d/o is different. This child is stable and the nurse said as long as I act appropriately when the child is vomiting or running a fever (call mom/grandparent) and have child picked up) then all should be well. The mom is over dramatic with the whole situation and does not believe that I nor anyone else at the school can take care of her child. News flash: Child has been at school for a week and has done just fine. No problems. It's going to be very interesting year for sure with this parent. Ugh!

I have a student with this. She's fine as long as she eats a snack at recess. My orders from her doctor basically say there shouldn't be an issue unless she gets sick and/or stops eating. Mom sends snacks & juice to keep on hand. I also have orders for checking her blood sugar if she has hypoglycemia symptoms & giving carbs if she's low. Not a big deal to manage thus far.
