Hey everyone! I am a past participant of the Summer III program at Mayo Clinic Rochester. This is a wonderful program to participate in, and I am available to answer any questions that you may have about this process moving forward! 

 @ICUMurse21 hello! I was sent an email saying I was an alternate. Do you know how likely it is for an alternate to get in?

I was a Summer III in 2022, and I was originally selected an alternate. I'm not sure the exact odds, but I know at least 2 other people in my cohort that were also originally alternates. So, there's definitely still hope☺️ To help with timeline, I received the email that I was an alternate on 1/31/22 and received the email that I had been picked on 2/11/22! @babynurse333 I'm not sure the exact odds on that but I do know when I was a Summer III 2 years ago there were 3 alternates that got in!

Thank you!! I was told I was an alternate on the 9th and still haven't heard anything else, so I'm thinking I maybe didn't get in:( do you know how many people are on the alternate list? I've seen from other posts that people thought maybe 5 but then others have said there's been 30+ so just wondering if anyone actually found out! They said they'd let us know either way by April so I guess there is still hope, but I'm assuming there was a cut off date for accepting offers (probably this week) and I doubt anyone will drop out after accepting

I was waitlisted Jan 2022 and they updated me in  April 2022.

I was selected for my very last choice of Med-Surg. I declined the offer because Uchicago offered me an externship on the Trauma ICU.

Oh gotcha. That definitely gave me a bit of hope even though it was your last choice so thank you, glad you got to do an ICU externship somewhere else!
