Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread to learn more about others who are applying for the program. I've read posts from past cohorts and thought it would be a great way for us to meet each other. I can't wait to hear from you all! ? 

Hi everyone!

I also applied for the internship. I am really nervous! I had OB and Peds clinicals although both were reduced. I have had all of my med-surg clinicals. In terms of class we are mainly online although I have gone to campus for certain things. Hopefully things start getting better.

in the Spring semester I had my peds & ob rotation, probably only went for a handful of times before we were cut off and did the remainder of hours online. in the fall, I had my advanced med surg rotation. it was 50% in person/50% simulations. we were considered lucky though because I heard of other schools in the area delaying their graduation by a semester because a lot of hospitals were not allowing students in. I haven't stepped foot on campus since march LOL 

I can't imagine getting my graduation delayed. I would be so mad haha. I think we're going back to 100% in person pretty soon. I have 70 students in my cohort and probably a good 80% of us are vaccinated because we have internships at local hospitals. We have in person classes Monday and Friday as well as virtual lectures the same day...(doesn't make sense to me but whatever) and then clinical on site 3 times a week.

Wish you and everyone else the best of luck as well! We are almost towards the end of the month so I hope we hear something soon! Maybe next Friday

I applied to a SW MN Mayo location. I haven't heard anything back though. I thought about applying to La Crosse but at the last minute didn't apply. I actually did a Winter internship with Mayo at one of there SWMN locations but it was only for a month.

@minar500 was the application for your Winter internship similar to this one?

I would say kind of. They had two essay questions and then you would rank what specific interests you had. The interest areas were more limited since it was only for a month. Then you had to turn in your resume and a cover letter. I know for Rochester they said they wouldn't consider a cover letter. I also had to take a one credit course to be able to do the internship which was more for insurance purposes I believe. I thought it was a really good experience that helped me a lot especially because I got to do a lot of hands-on skills.

@minar500 was it for the Mankato location? I applied too! I heard we're supposed to be hearing back late February/early March. Your Winter internship sounds like it was a blast- such a great opportunity to get hands-on experience!

It was the Mankato location! I don't think I have much of a chance though for the Summer, because I've already been with them in the Winter. I still thought I would try though because I really want more experience before being on my own. I know they said they would be taking approximately 15 interns this Summer.
