Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread to learn more about others who are applying for the program. I've read posts from past cohorts and thought it would be a great way for us to meet each other. I can't wait to hear from you all! ?

Did anyone here also apply for the "Student Nurse Internship" at other Mayo locations? I just heard back from La Crosse and I'm hoping to meet others who recently got accepted too!

How do you apply for those? I don't see them on mayo's career page

I don’t know. It may be a bit less than other years due to the pandemic and also due to the fact that last year’s was cancelled. Not sure if that would impact how many applications they got or not. I’ve heard in the past though they usually get 1,000+ applications.

I'm anxious there might be more applicants because of covid, more students seeking externships to make up for missed hours at clinicals.

I seriously can't wait until the end of the month to see if we made it to the second round ):< my GPA isn't the best so I'm hoping my essay pulls through

Me too. However, part of me wonders if  because of COVID they are going to rely more on the essay because people lost opportunities.

Hi guys. Reading this made me curious...what does everyone’s clinicals look like?  In-person? Virtual? A combo? Mine is mostly in-person with supplemental virtual hours. Super intrigued to hear others experience while I nervously await my response from Mayo.

All my clinicals are completely in-person, as well as most classes. But I'm in Tennessee, so...you get it. LOL.

in the Spring semester I had my peds & ob rotation, probably only went for a handful of times before we were cut off and did the remainder of hours online. in the fall, I had my advanced med surg rotation. it was 50% in person/50% simulations. we were considered lucky though because I heard of other schools in the area delaying their graduation by a semester because a lot of hospitals were not allowing students in. I haven't stepped foot on campus since march LOL
