Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency October 2023

Nurses Residency

Published

Hey everyone! I am making this thread for people who are interested in applying for the nurse residency program at Mayo in Arizona! I haven't seen anyone make one yet for the so if you're interested in applying, this thread is for you! Hopefully we can keep each other updated on the process ?

I work as a new grad at another hospital.. but I'm very disappointed with the changes they're making so applying to Mayo is my next big shot ??

Yeah, I got shot down for my unit as a new grad when they only had nights open. As a single father, I cannot do nights. It pissed me off because I've been an extern there for over a year, already take 5-6 patients per shift (with an RN preceptor), have multiple Sunshines and a Daisy, and kick *** on that floor. They should have made room, for me, instead they placed me in another unit I am not even interested in. So I am all in on Mayo now.

just submitted my application. I'm also a new grad nurse in the ICU, don't get me wrong I feel supportive with my coworkers and the nursing staff.. it's just the hospital that's ?

Does the nurse residency include ICU? I'm from Florida just wondering if it's worth apply to and moving after I graduate in August.

ICU is often part of it, but you'd have to have some experience working ICU already, as clinicals aren't enough to get you in the door. They mentioned that's more for a New grad that either isn't just out of school, or was an extern in ICU previously.

to have a position in the ICU as a new grad at Mayo, you need to have more experience such as, previous work experience, Preceptorship, externship. They don't allow clinicals.

Does anyone know when they may start reaching out to people for interviews? How long will the whole process take? (from applying until we hear back about final decision/ receive offers)

I'm not sure but I heard about 2 weeks.

Even if your practicum is in the ICU? Sorry I'm a little unfamiliar with how mayo works

it's OK. if you did your practicum in the ICU then that's fine. ?

Now that the application period has ended...can everyone keep us updated on when you get asked for interviews? ?
