Maybe I made the wrong career choice

Hi Everyone, well to make a long story short, I just failed my first class, nusring assesstment. As some you know I was havinf problems with the test taking skills. OK on the first test made a 72.6, second test even worst at whooping 65, ok found a study group and made an 85 on the test that I took today. I finally think that I have the critical thinking down, but it's too late. You have to have a 77% in order to pass the class, I have a 74%. My question is should I go ahead and take the assessment test for the clinical or should I not waste my time since I will have to take the class again in the fall. The good news is that I think that I finally have the test taking skills down, but how does a person who want to be a nurse fail the first class, talk about a looser:(. Or should I try to talk to the professor to see if I should have the final for clinical. I guess it would make a difference in whether or not I will get a D or F? Please advise....................

I would recommend also that you speak with the professor and do you have an advisor as well? Maybe do that too. Critical thinking is sometimes a tough concept for people to wrap their brain around. Sounds like you did a little better studying in a group...some people fare better that way. Good luck!

i would take it. i imagine that if you pass it you won't have to repeat the clinical section.

I was thinking the same thing, that I would not have to do the clinical portion again, hopefully. It doesn't say so on the syllabus, but I will ask my advisor.

I would go ahead and go for it also. You never know!!!

I think a question you need to have an answer to is "if you take the final and still don't make a high enough score to pass the course, is that going to hurt your student nursing career at the school in the long run?" If not and you can just merely retake the class if you have to, then take the final. If yes, then I would drop the class and take it again in the next term and aim for a better grade.
