That the entire 14-member North Carolina Board of Nursing will be voting on the controversial nursing education recommendations.
The open forum time of the Board meeting will be on May 17 from 8:35 - 9:00. You will need to sign up and indicate that you wish to speak at the beginning of that time if you wish to comment. (Wow! A whole 25 minutes allotted for people across the state to give feedback before
the entire board. How generous :angryfire )
A copy of Draft 4 can be found here: http://www.ncbon.com/forms/Draft4.pdf
There is also opportunity to give feedback on this draft: http://www.ncbon.com/forms/DraftEducationRulesFeedbackForm.pdf
The current members of the Board (who will be voting on May 17th) are listed here:

The Board voted yesterday NOT to require master's degree preparation for all faculty. This is a tremendous breakthrough for the small ADN and LPN nursing programs throughout the state. Our existence has been spared and for this I am very grateful. Not only will we survive, but we will thrive :) Now we can all breathe a little easier and concentrate on building up our programs and healing our rifts. We have all become so polarized.
The Board did vote to include national accreditation by 2015 and the NCLEX revision (a school's average NCLEX passage rate over three years must be 95% or higher than the national average). These changes are not insurmountable and we can adapt.
The proposed Rules changes will now be submitted to the Rules Review Commission and eventually be published in the North Carolina Register. There will be a Public Hearing at which time testimony can be given related to the proposed changes.

Thank you for sharing this ... while most mainstream nurses will not or are not aware of these drafts ... for those in education and those that it impacts, this is certainly good news. Thank you for keeping us in the know. :)

You sound like an extremely well-prepared nurse. Your school is certainly lucky to have you!
