Hello!
I will be re-locating to the Twin Cities after I graduate in May with my BSN from the University of Colorado-Denver. I have started job hunting and know the market is tough in the area right now. If anyone has advice on landing a NICU position or a Peds position at any of the Children's hospitals in the area, it would be very helpful!
I know that North Memorial, HCMC, UofM Amplatz Children's and Minneapolis Children's all have level III NICUs, but would love to hear if I am missing any.
Thank you so much :)

I really would not get my hopes up too high. Not to sound like a downer, but the new grad RN market is terrible right now. There have been major lay offs at almost all major hospitals. These specialty areas will probably not hire a new grad. If I were you I would take anything that I could get to at least have a job and get some kind of experience. Hopefully the market will turn in around in a few years.

I graduated in Dec 2009 and there were a lot of my classmates that worked at the hospitals you named as HUC's and PCT/CNA's and they weren't even able to land RN jobs. Like the previous posted said, I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. It IS tough in MN right now. I was lucky enough to land a hospital job before I graduated, but it is 60 miles from home and the commute kills me every day. Most of the hospitals that had new grad residency programs have suspended them indefinately. Mayo also has a NICU, not sure if it is Level III or not. But they are also in the middle of a huge hiring freeze.
Good luck with your job search!

I just moved up to the cities from Rochester to work at the new Maple Grove Hospital. I worked on Pediatrics at the Mayo, and I know in the spring they are going to hire 5-10 more RN's. They hire new grads, and have a wonderful orientation program. The level III NICU only hires new grads if you have at least 150 preceptored hours in the NICU during your senior year. I have to say that the market is not all that great for new grads though!
