MATURE mature student starting RPN at NC in ON Canada

Published

I am starting the NC RPN course in May 2015. This is a 'fourth career' for me and I am looking for other MATURE mature students who are as brave/crazy as I am.

What is your age? Many schools classify a mature student as anyone over 21.

i was 40 when I started my PN education a had a classmate who was 47.

ihave to ask though, with the state of the job market and what you perceive as your advanced age, is this really a good career choice?

at niagara college ? I start in may too

I'm a Registered Nurse outside Canada and has been inactive from my profession for almost 5 years. I graduated 9 years ago and applying for the BScN Program in OttawaU. Do you think they will take me?

Thanks for the post. Its more a choice to gain skills for retirement. My husband has done a lot of work doing water projects in Kenya with Rotary International so when we go there I would like to be able to have something to contribute.

Great! Im looking forward to getting info regarding orientation etc. are you taking Full or Modified?

From what I can see, its all about the marks from your previous studies. Talk to admissions!

So it's all the marks that matter? I already passed my application and it's in process. I have 88-97 marks which I think decent enough to be considered or accepted in the program? Thanks for your reply!:)

Nice job with the marks! They can't turn you away because of your age. Don't forget you have a lot of life experience to bring to the table. I hope all goes well!

I hope so. I hope some of my courses will be credited. The university has required to submit a detailed course description for a possibility of granting an advanced standing. This is way easier that getting assessed as a Foreign Trained Nurse.

2nd Career for me. I'm starting at Seneca in May:)

Ready to start your NC RPN program? Are you in Full or Modified?
