Math stinks!!! (LONG)

Published

Hello all -

I have to take one math class. I took College Algebra in 1991 and got a C+. At the info meeting I went to for the nursing department they said that if you received any grade below a B to retake the class (it is very competitive at my CC). Now mind you I could have taken any math class and I choose to retake Algebra (I thought maybe after 13 years it would be easier). While I have passed every test - it looks like I will be getting a C+ again (400 bucks down the drain :angryfire ).

Now I am looking into applying to a local college where I can get my BSN (I want to get into that school but I will have to take out private school loans since I have used almost used up my allowances for the federal student loans). I need to take Intro to Statistics for that school and I will be taking in the Fall.

First off, what math did everyone have to take?

Secondly, those who have taken Intro to Statistics - how hard is it?

Lastly, do you think my inability to grasp math will hurt my chances of being an excellent nurse?

I am so upset over this.

Sorry for the long rant.

Tracy

I am taking Statistics this Spring semester and it is the only required math class for the University of Oklahoma BSN program. I have been struggling w/ this math class for about 14 weeks now, and we are learning chi-square and anova which is actually starting to make sense to me. I have tried to explain what Statistics is when people ask me what is it. I tell them "you know all those buttons on a scientific calculator that you never use? We use them!!".

I seriously cannot wait till this class ends. BTW, I am HORRIBLE at math.

Good Luck to everyone who has to take stats.
