  1. I am currently n the accelerated BSN program and graduating May '12. This school is really good. I suggest it. You will always find problems with any program out there but for the most part I haven't had any meaningful problems. Good luck to everyone starting!!!
  2. Here is what our med cards have on them for my bachelors to bsn program. Good luck!! The information to be included for each medication is listed below: Generic Name: Classification: Trade Names: Therapeutic Effect: (What does the medication do for the body?) Uses: (What is this medication used for?) Side Effects: (What manageable effects might occur with this medication? For example, nausea or constipation) Adverse Reactions/Toxic Effects: (What might occur that would cause this medication to be discontinued?) Nursing Interventions Required: (What does the nurse need to do before and after giving this medication?) Teaching Required: (What does the client need to know about this medication?) Alterations for Children or the Elderly: (Will not apply to all medications)
  3. Hi Badger, How did you like the instructors and were you able to work at all during the program? I start KSN next mth in the traditional section.
  4. Thanks for all the replies. It helps to have a source for questions like these. Best of luck to everyone (including me!)
  5. I posted this on another forum, but I think this would be the correct board to post this. Hello Board - I had a question for people who have or know of people that have been placed on the alternate list for 4 year nursing degrees. I received my letter this week from the University of Oklahoma that I was not accepted but was placed on the alternate list in case other people have to drop, etc. I think it is a great compliment to even be on an alt. list even though I was not admitted. My question is this; has anyone out there been put on an alternate list or know anyone that held an alternate position and actually got the call offering admissions? My Stats: Current GPA - 3.50 Science GPA - 3.76 Thanks for reading my post

  7. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone sharing their acceptance at various schools. It sure helps to keep me motivated in human anatomy. Thanks Again
  8. I am becoming an RN 1. - stepping stone to be a nurse anesthetist. 2. - I will always have a job. I am becoming a CRNA 1. - because it fascinates me and I couldn't picture myself in any other field. 2. - because I will always have a job. Plus I like to help people in need, but if I really wanted to do that, I would join the Red Cross. Good luck to all.
  9. I am a nursing student............does that count?? I am starting to believe there arent too many okie's here.., maybe they dont have pc's on the farm. HA-HA. Gotta love Oklahoma. :balloons:
  10. It seems weird to me (grew up all my life in Oklahoma) that people are REALLY REALLY freaked out about tornadoes. I would rather be in a tornado anyday than an earthquake or hurricane. Oklahomans just treat severe weather as a rainy day. P.S. TAKE YOUR TORNADO PRECAUTIONS!!!
  11. Hi to all the Oklahoma nurses and future nurses. Also, belated Happy Nurse's Day!!!! A little bit about myself. I work in Mustang and live in Yukon and go to school full time and work full time. Working on my pre-req's and plan to apply to OU School of Nursing in Jan '05. I currently have a 3.5 GPA and slowly raising that up. If anyone that has grad or attended OU SON could tell me what their stats were when they were accepted, that would help a lot. There are not too many forums that I have found anywhere else for Oklahoma Nurses. I'm excited to talk to everyone. :balloons:
  12. CRNASOON - what school are you going to know in Oklahoma. I am currently in Oklahoma working on my BSN and will have to either go to Texas or Kansas to a CRNA program. Just curious.
  13. I am a nursing student in Oklahoma but my Aunt lives in Austin, Texas and is a RN. She interested me in nursing and makes very good money. The one thing she always tells me is there are plenty of jobs if you dont like the one you in when your nursing. I dont think the same could be said about Oklahoma. Also there are no food taxes at the grocery store. I am sure it is made up elsewhere, but just another positive thing. I am going to NA school in Fort Worth and will live in Texas where the money is plentiful. I go to Austin every few months and this time when I'm rolling through the flat lands, I will think of you guys! Good Luck to everyone!:balloons: Kari
