So, I went today to the loudoun campus and took the math placement test. I know what I can do and waht I cannot. I did study yesterday went through their website and with my own materiel. I know I was going to score for 004 that is alegebra. I did not I scored for 003 pre-algebra. Very surprise! In my opinion the question that I had were difficult I did not even had anything in prealgebra. All the question were algebra. I felt a bit cheated. Anyone experience the same thing?

How long did it take you to finish the test? That was my only surprise. I was in there for an entire 2 hours. The test just kept going and going. I did not study before at all and I wish I had. I think I would have been in there for less time. I scored for 007. Were there resources (on their site) for studying for the math test good? I found the math portion of the HESI book to be VERY useful and I am going to buy that book again just for the math portion.
I was there for about 50 min to an hour. But i took the test 5 years ago score a bit lower at that time and I remember getting way more question on prealgebra, word problem etc...This time around none!!!!Yes they have example on their site or on the copy with the testing center infos. And based on that piece of paper I would have score for math 004 so it is very much so confusing...
Well the good news is that you have plenty of time to study and try for it again, right? None of the nursing program applications are due for many months from now. I am sure you can score higher. Go to a tutoring session if you have to. I would do anything to avoid taking an unnecessary class.
I assume you are looking to score high enough so that you don't have to take any math so your goal is "May take 004" on your exam results...?

My goal was to take only Math 004 (agebra II) But oh well I already signed up for 003 (prealgebra) becuase I don't have time to wait another 3 months and I know that it will be too hard to study for it. Plus if I scored again for the same thing I would have wasted my time!
But I appreciate the advice:D

I suck at anything that deals with #'s lol I had to take algebra 1 (math 3)class, I took it at my own pace, held at the Alexandria campus in the math lab, was just full of computers, was a very simple class.
Ensure you take the drug dosage exams very seriously as you only get 1 rewrite, and then your out of the semester!! Every year (semester), people fail and get the boot. Doesn't matter if your average is 100% and ur the greatest student ever in lab, fail the exam, then the rewrite and your out. The exams are not overly difficult, people fail to fully read the question, or forget to their is no trailin gzeroes or forget the preceding decimal.

Math 03 is algebra I and Math 04 is mostly algebra II. If it makes you or any of us feel better the counselor said that 95% of all students testing, test within the developmental math range. Meaning the 02, 03, 04 levels. Math 04 is really tough. So, do well with the 03 and it will really prepare you for 04. You will get there! Good luck.
Oh thank you I feel a bit better...But it seems that all the people I have met so far are pretty good in math!!!
A bit off topic, our first real dosage exam in the Spring semester, i believe close to HALF the class failed it!
