Some places don't cover maternity benefits if you become pregnant in the first six months of working. You need to find out the insurance benefits both health and short term disability to find out if there is a pre-existing penalty if you get pregnant before working there for 6 months to a year. It would depend on the insurance contracts for health and disability.
Hi I had 4 weeks off between jobs and all they don wa move my increment date, it wasn't really counted as a break in practice.
You need to be working at the trust over a year before you will be entitled to full maternity benefits.
If you look on your nhs intranet and search for maternity you should be able to get the maternity leave guidelines up for your trust.
Hope this helps

Hi All,
I really hope someone can help...I'm new to this forum so bear with me please. I basically want to know what counts as a break in continuous service? I got a new job a couple of months ago, at a new trust, I had about a month between contracts as recruitment were a lot slower than I anticipated! I really want to start trying for a baby and want to know if this will effect my entitlement to maternity pay? As I read somewhere that as long as the break is shorter than 3 months it will be disregarded? Had any1 else been in this situation? I did ring HR but they didn't seem to know much?
Hope some1 can help, Cheers!
