Masters Degree with no specialty at FAU?

Good morning nurses. I am at the point where I want to now go to graduate school. I have the opportunity through work to do this for free as long as it is a public university.

Living in South Florida, the two closest to me are Florida International University; which I am not a fan, and Florida Atlantic University (FAU). At FAU there is a program for Nursing Leadership that appeals to me, but is 100% online; which is not to my liking, I prefer face to face, but I guess this is the future of school.

Any of you done a Masters with no specialty? I am not interested in becoming a nurse practioner. I am currently in Public Health, but as with anything, jobs are not 100% secured now days, so having a masters I feel is a plus in my resume.

I'm unclear what you mean by "no specialty" - if you're referring to the program at FAU, that program's specialty is nursing leadership.

Sorry, I meant no ARNP.

My interest is to further my education without looking for ARNP, or DNP.

There seems to be no Masters in Education nearby, and the only one that may interest me is Nursing Leadership.

The member who originally responded to your inquiry (klone) has a MSN degree with nursing leadership as a specialty area. Hence, she has a MSN but is not an APRN.

Are you INTERESTED in nursing leadership?

Well, not sure if interested is the right way to put it. It appears as there are few options for me. The other area available is Informatics, and I know that this is not something I want to do, so in the process of elimination Nursing Leadership is a consideration.

I am in public health, so it would be nice to have a masters degree with a minor in public health, but the schools that are provided to me locally, and the ones that my job will pay for, do not offer that.

I suppose because I have been out of school for a few years, am a bit nervous as to the expectations, and the amount of time that will be needed as I work, in addition, the program is online only, and l do best face to face.

I have the ability of getting a graduate degree at no cost to me; with the exception of books, so it will be wise to use this great opportunity afforded to me, and I am looking for your wisdom.
