Massasoit Community College Fall 2021

Published

Hello,

I wanted to create this thread for folks who have applied to Massasoit Community College’s Nursing program for the Fall 2021 semester. How are things going for everyone?

Current and former students, do you have any feedback on this program for prospective students?

Thank you!

What’s Sarah’s handle? I’m having trouble with this site on my phone- I’m not seeing everything. Off to my laptop to see if that’s better ?

I deleted my previous post because I thought this was the LPN to RN Group. I am sorry for the confusion.

No problem!

I was confused LOL

What sort of paper notebook would you recommend? Bound, loose leaf, 3 subject? Or did you you iPads and apps for class?

Hi,

I used a 2 1/2 -3” binder for each course. Saved every single handout (there are TONS) for midterms and finals.

We didn’t have iPads but I’m sure you could bring one or a laptop for note taking. I recorded every single lecture. I had an iPhone so I just used the voice memos app that is already on it, and labeled each lecture by date and topic. That way you can listen again in case you missed something. Most instructors didn’t mind. One didn’t allow it (because she got caught contradicting herself on numerous occasions which cost us points on exams) but we still recorded anyways. (Nonchalantly)  You’ll figure out who that person is real quickly ….

Tons of pens (black never blue) and tons of highlighters and flash cards ?

Ooh I love blue pens ?? OK thank you! I was trying to figure out the best method. After I posted to you, I realized wire bound made no sense, Unless it was a three hole punch kinds that you can tear off and then put in a binder

Black always because it photocopies the best. Anything else can be less legible.

Yes! grab a 3 hole punch too. (Actually I think most of us just used the one in class during break. Saved us money)  But I just think the loose leaf is cheaper than a regular notebook and you get more pages for the price.

you must be get excited

After being a CNA for 15 years my friends and coworkers…and many if my residents, pushed me to make the jump to nursing. I was always reluctant because I cherished my time spent with residents. But the time has come. Many my back is killing me…LOL. But I want more. So I started at Massasoit and have had nothing but pleasant experiences so far, well besides the pandemic and me falling out of the first semester losing my financial and having to appeal the decision. They accepted me back and I’m on my way. I know this is the start of a hard road but I’m ready willing and semi able…LOL Contact me and let’s be friends..we are all gonna need friends.

Hello,

My name is Olivia and I have been working as a LPN for the last two years. I am applying for  the LPN-RN Bridge Program at Massasoit Community College for Fall 2022. I had a few questions and would love feedback! I was wondering the difference between the full-time/part-time. For the part-time what time are classes and would the clinical’s be at night? How are the teachers and how do they teach (this is so important to me)? If I scored a 59% on the TEAS Test (reading part) do I still have a chance of getting in because my transcript consists of a lot of A’s. Do they have math tests each semester, are they hard and do you need to score a certain grade? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to talk to me!

-Olivia ?

Hi Olivia,

I was in the regular night program and classes were at the same time as the lpn-RN. It consisted of two nights a week 4-10pm with a clinical night. Or sometimes clinical would be on a weekend depending upon the specialty.

Teachers were tough (they have to be) lots of reading and ATI online modules. We didn’t have math tests each semester, just a few specific ones required throughout the program.  (I graduated in ‘17 so things might have changes as the faculty certainly has)

good luck!!
