Maryville University Summer 2014

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

Hi! I just found out that I have been accepted to Maryville University's FNP online program starting May 6 2014. I was wondering if there is anyone else starting with me or if anyone that is currently in this program has any advice! :)

Specializes in ICU, Allergy/Asthma, and Primary Care.

I am applying to this cohort. How long did it take to hear back on their decision once you applied. Also is the cost still $34,000? MVU and Simmons are my two schools I am applying to. What kind of cumulative GPA/Nursing GPA and nursing experience do you have? I have found the advisors to be really friendly and helpful! Congrats on your acceptance!

Thank you! I'm excited! I graduated from GCU with a 3.87 however my ASN gpa was lower and brought my cumulative to 3.2. It took about 3 weeks after my file was complete to hear back. I also applied at Mizzou and SLU but Maryville got back to me first. A co-worker at the hospital has several friends in the program and they love it. I am a charge nurse on a psych unit but also have some ER experience. The program is still $34,000 however I plan on using the public service loan forgiveness program

Tuition will increase! I was quoted about 32000 and I just saw my current balance and its 39000 and I have 2 more semester to go.

Wow that's kinda crappy however I have heard that the program is good...since your almost finished can you give any feedback? I currently work full time nights (three 12's)....my advisor says many students work full time throughout the program. Is it doable? I've been told the 1st year is all online and then clinical time starts the 2nd year...any feedback you can give will be greatly appreciated!

I recently started the program and like it as much as one can enjoy theory type classes. The schedule is nice, for the first year it is 8 week classes back to back. One class at a time. Then it looks a little hectic. Advanced patho and pharm together for 16 weeks followed by all the clinical classes. To be honest those two classes together concern me a little. In fact since the current classes arent overwhelming at all, I bought the books for those two and getting a huge headstart. I figure a few hours a week until they start will put me in a much better position!

Thank you for the information! I'm really excited to start and I like your idea of looking ahead at the pharm/patho classes. It's nice to hear that the start is not as hectic...thanks! Congratulations to you btw!

I have applied for May start. Should hear back soon!! I definitely want to be in touch with others in the class!!!

Me too! Keep me posted!! I'm excited to start

I just found out I was accepted today! I also applied to Simmons, but am still waiting to hear back from there. Just wondering if you think you will stick with Maryville or switch to Simmons. Simmons worries me only because of the money, but that program sounds amazing. If Maryville is going to increase tuition then Simmons might be the better choice. So many things to decide.

Congrats!! . I am going to stick with Maryville. I have talked to several others that are finishing the program and none of them had any complaints. I figure it's going to cost me either way and I plan to do the the public service 10yr loan forgiveness plan...it includes nurses! You make 10yrs of on time payments then the rest is forgiven. Keep in touch if you decide to go with Maryville.

Have you heard if the program is 2 years 7 months or 2 years? I could have swore I heard 2 years 7 months, but then on the website it says 2 years. Maryville is a great program from everything I have heard I am very excited!
