Marymount Accelerated BSN - Spring 2010

Published

I'm looking to trade info with people who've been accepted for the Spring 2010 Accelerated BSN class at Marymount. I got my acceptance (I applied early) on 10/1.

If you got into more than one school and have decided to go to Marymount, I'd like to hear your reasoning. I've been accepted at both Marymount and Georgetown, and need to decide soon where I'm going. I'm sending in my deposit this week to hold my place at Marymount, while I try to figure out if there's any advantage to going to Georgetown instead - when Marymount costs about $48K and Georgetown costs $70K.

So if you're crushing on MU, give me a holla! LOL

Thanks,

- Alex :behindpc:

Eeeeek!!! *biting my fingernails*

I just applied for the Spring 2011 and was told it will take approximately two weeks. I had two days to complete the entire application process and have everything submitted by the second deadline of 10/15/2010. By the grace of God I was able to get it done:yeah: Now waiting to hear back.

Hi Everyone!

I am also applying to the program for Fall 2011. I feel like there is not much info on their website, or its a bit unorganized.

I have a few questions that I'm hoping to get answered, so any help would be appreciated

-How early should I send in my application? The spring deadlines are still up, but any idea of when the deadline will be for fall (which month)?

-Will they consider more than 1 reference?

-Is there a good contact person? phone or email? I emailed someone from the department last month and did not get a response - kind of turns me off to the program a bit

-For those who have been accepted in previous semesters, what was your GPA/stats like?

-Does anyone have experience with them substituting courses? I have Social Psychology but not a Sociology course - think I'd have any luck?

I have a BS in Kinesiology from Penn State with a 3.3 GPA (much higher in the last few semesters, but a little lower in science). I have 1 or 2 prereqs to finish and a lot of experience in physical therapy (original plan) but not in nursing. I'm worried about getting accepted! :(

Thanks for the help!

Hey everyone! I got my acceptance for the Spring 2011 Accelerated class the first week of October. I've already sent in my deposit. I'm SO ready to start already! Look forward to meeting you guys. I started a facebook page for us (in case you're interested in making some connections before classes start).

blb5103,

I'm in my first semester at Marymount and I know for a fact that the earlier you apply the better! I'm not sure if they'll consider more than one reference, but I would try specifically calling the admissions office at the school of health professions for questions. I had some problems getting in touch with them initially as well, but someone should be there during normal business hours. My cumulative GPA was actually on the lower side, but I did have a lot of clinical experience and my prereqs were all finished. If you're worried about your GPA, I recommend taking the optional TEAS test. It's relatively easy, enhances your application, and it shows you're really interested in the program. Hope this helps a little!

Thank you very much! I will give them a call and look into the test

Hey All - Word of advice: No employers actually care where you get your BSN from. So get your degree from the cheapest school possible. I'm in my first semester at Marymount and am so disappointed. The administration is AWFUL. They lose documents, don't know how to organize the classes, and can't or (don't care to) answer questions, esp regarding actual tuition (it keeps changing!). There was almost a complete nursing faculty turnover this year too. Only a couple professors stayed, while the rest are completely new. (And no one will bother to tell us why). The ONLY reason I'm staying is because I didn't have other options for an accelerated program. Good luck with your search for schools! And believe me, you won't want to spend the next decade of your life paying off loans for this place.....

I am really thinking of going to the accelerated program at Marymount. Do you mind if I PM you? When I visited I thought it was a nice school...

I worked with Alecia Denmark, the admission counselor, and she is organized and responds very promptly to calls and emails. You are right the website is very disorganized. Hope this helps.

I agree that the tuition is excessively expensive. I'm in my first semester as well, and so far I haven't had any problems. A lot of the teachers are indeed new, but I like *most* of them, and all of them have taught in other programs. I know that some people in my classes have had issues with transfer credits and financial aid, but that's not really specific to the program, that's just the issues of a smaller school administration. If you're looking for that kind of efficiency a program at a bigger school would probably be better, and cheaper!

I've been accepted for the spring 2012 class. Any advice would be welcomed!

Also where to live
