Any Fall 2006 JHU Applicants?

U.S.A. Maryland

thought we could get a little thread going on.

i don't know about everyone else, but i don't know how on earth i'm going to make it to decision time. i know decisions aren't announced until december 15, but i still come home each day checking email and mail for anything jhu related! jhu has been my dream for almost two years.

i still can't believe 1000 applicants for 100 seats. blows my mind.

anyways, so what's everyone applying for? accelerated or traditional? direct-entry or not?

i decided to go traditional. i've worked so hard that if i get in, i want to enjoy jhu and baltimore. i want to get involved in as much as possible, and intern at jhu during the summer.

can't wait to hear from everyone!!

dreams come true!!!!

imagine my surprise when i saw a baltimore area code calling my cell phone..it was mary!!!

my letter asking for reconsideration did the trick--

i'm accepted!!!!!!

omg, what do i do? what do i do? accepted students day is around 2 weeks away, i've been spending money out of the butt for my sister's wedding, my books this semester, and my dog, thinking i wouldn't need to worry for hopkins..

i can't even remember what mary or i said, i was half-laughing, half-crying, just trying to hold myself together.

oh man...i still can't get myself together right now..can't stay still, can't concentrate, can't think of what to do next..

i want to thank all of you who have been amazing...especially you jeanne. you've been so selfless and graceful. you're an amazing woman. i'll be sending you a looong pm as soon as i can settle down for more than two seconds.

alana, swerdy, birthmamaew...thank you thank you thank you.. you don't know how much the kind words meant to me.

thank you allnurses!!!! :nurse:

hey peachy,

congratulations! your letter did the tirck! not many students would do that!

before you go crazy with accepted student's day, relax. you don't have to go; it's completely optional. you can always come out and visit some other time. they get prospective and accepted students visiting during other times of the year. you're in the traditional program, right? so you have time since school does not start until sept. so if you want to come out later on when things are less hectic for you, that's ok. essentially, they tell you about financial aid, how you need to fill out your fafsa, you meet some of the instructors, there are panels of students you can ask questions, and you can always purchase your uniform, and stethoscope, etc. but if you cannot make it that day, no worries, because they seem to go over the same stuff during the 2 days of orientation in sept.

i think there must have been a guardian angel on your side! you are on your path to achieve your dream! congrats!

I can't tell you how awesome you are.

You've inspired me so much over the last year. You've shown so much patience, knowledge and faith, it's unbelievable.

I'm speechless. But everyone here knows how much butt you kick.

Sorry, did I also mention I'm brain-dead about now? :chuckle

Congratulations Peachy! I won't make it to Accepted Students Day but I am looking forward to meeting you in June when classes start! Yay!

I did apply early decision and just found out I got in! I've just got to pass microbio with a B. (This shouldn't be a problem but I am driven by anxiety so of course it makes me a little nervous.) I am from California. Grew up in Berkeley, now I live in Oakland (where I've been doing prerequisites at community college) and I have an undergrad BA from UCLA. How about you? I've never been to Baltimore but am thinking it might be time to plan a trip! Best of luck! How long is the traditional program?

Cheers!

Hi, I know this is a long time after this post was made, but here we are approaching Dec 15th and I applied early decision for traditional BSN. I notice that last year, you found out on Dec 9th?? that's so much earlier! I am crossing my fingers and hoping to hear. Did you get a tennative acceptance that said you had to finish the rest of your classes with a B or above? I just woudl love to hear a little bit about your acceptance story!!!

Tamalama,

You may want to send her a private message, I've spoken with alanap previously and she's a valuable resource for all things JHU. I think a PM would probably get her attention, as I'm not sure she's around the forum as much as previously.

Thanks! I really appreciate it!
